Harsh Dubey

Harsh Dubey, a slow left-arm orthodox spinner from Vidarbha, has emerged as one of the brightest all-round prospects in Indian domestic cricket. Born on July 23, 2002, Dubey's journey from the dusty maidans of Nagpur to the record books of the Ranji Trophy has been a tale of perseverance, raw talent, and steady evolution. 

He came through the ranks in Vidarbha’s structured age-group system, playing at the Under-13, Under-15, Under-19, and Under-23 levels. His consistency, particularly in the Under-19 and Under-23 circuits, established him as a dependable wicket-taker.

While Dubey's red-ball prowess has attracted the most attention, his white-ball stats show promise too.

The spinner’s breakout season came in 2024–25. He was the cornerstone of Vidarbha’s bowling attack, notching up five-wicket hauls against major teams, including a sensational spell in the semifinal against Mumbai. His ability to bowl long spells without losing intensity made him invaluable on both helpful and flat tracks. 

Despite topping Vidarbha's wicket charts in the previous season, Dubey was snubbed for the 2024 Duleep Trophy. That disappointment became a turning point. 

In the middle of the IPL 2025, an injury to R Smaran saw Harsh Dubey get a contract from the Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

His exceptional domestic performances were eventually rewarded with a maiden India call-up in May 2026, when selectors included him in both the one-off Test and three-match ODI squads for the home series against Afghanistan. 

The selection came on the back of his record-breaking Ranji Trophy campaign and growing reputation as one of India's most promising spin-bowling all-rounders. 

Although many viewed him as a potential long-term successor to Ravindra Jadeja, Dubey insisted he was not looking to replace anyone but instead wanted to carve out his own identity in Indian cricket. Reflecting on the moment, he admitted the news initially felt unreal, describing it as a dream come true after years of hard work and perseverance.
