Rajin Saleh

One of the most technically sound batsmen, Rajin Saleh is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who made it to the international scene at the tender age of 19 and was the 12th man in Bangladesh’s inaugural Test against India in 2000.

Saleh came into prominence after scoring heavily for the Sylhet division averaging over 55 in the 2000-01 season and got his maiden national callup in 2000. After travelling with the senior side for over three years, Saleh finally made his Test and ODI debut in a series against Pakistan. 

Just after a year of making his debut, he was recognized for his patience and leadership skills side which saw the youngster captain his country in the 2004 Champions Trophy held in England after Habibul Basher broke his thumb. Multiple failures and low scores saw him getting axed from the squad in 2006 after enjoying a short period of success in 2005. 

After just a single century against Kenya in his short stint in the limited-overs cricket, Saleh was dropped from the squad after the 2006 Champions Trophy. Saleh was a surprise inclusion in Bangladesh’s  2007 World Cup squad but did not feature in any of the games. Post World Cup, Saleh was given a few chances in the longer formats but his inconsistency got the better of him and he was dropped from the squad in 2008 and failed to appear for the Tigers since but continued his domestic career for the Sylhet division until 2018.
