Rehan Ahmed’s rise through English cricket has been rapid and remarkable, marked by records that underline both his talent and temperament.

A product of England’s youth system, Ahmed began his pathway at Nottinghamshire before moving to Leicestershire in 2017, where he quickly gained a reputation as one of the brightest prospects in the country.

His development continued through age-group cricket, including representation at the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup, before his senior breakthrough came later that year.

Rehan Ahmed’s Test Career

Born on 13 August 2004, Rehan Ahmed announced himself on the international stage in December 2022 when he made his Test debut against Pakistan, becoming England’s youngest-ever male Test cricketer at just 18 years and 126 days.

He made the moment even more special by claiming a five-wicket haul in the match, setting another record as the youngest debutant to do so in men’s Test cricket.

Ahmed continued to build his Test credentials in 2024 during England’s series against India, taking 11 wickets and contributing 76 runs across three matches, demonstrating his growing all-round value.

Rehan Ahmed’s White-Ball Career

In early 2023, Rehan Ahmed completed a rare set of milestones, becoming England’s youngest male cricketer to play in all three international formats. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh on 6 March 2023, followed by his T20I debut on 12 March, both at just 18 years of age.

Later that year, his potential was recognised further when he was shortlisted for the Crickxo Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

In the 2025–26 Big Bash League season, Rehan Ahmed brought his youthful energy and international experience to the Hobart Hurricanes, adding a dynamic spin option and handy lower-order batting to their squad.

For IPL 2026, the English all-rounder was called in late to the Delhi Capitals squad as a replacement for Ben Duckett.
