Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan — not to be confused with the Afghan superstar of the same name — has quietly carved out his own place in Nepal’s cricketing setup. Born on 21 February 2001 in Birgunj, Rashid is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who has been part of Nepal’s national system since his teenage years. His rise began early, and by 2019, he had already earned a spot in Nepal’s squad for the South Asian Games, a significant milestone for any young cricketer.

He made his T20I debut on 5 December 2019, stepping onto the international stage against Bhutan. Nepal went on to secure the bronze medal in the tournament, with Rashid gaining valuable exposure at an age when most bowlers are still learning their craft. His progress was acknowledged by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) in September 2020, when he was awarded a central contract — a clear sign that he was considered part of the country’s long-term plans.

Rashid’s bowling style leans on discipline, tight lengths, and subtle variations rather than raw express pace. He thrives on building pressure, forcing mistakes, and playing the role of a control bowler within Nepal’s pace attack. Though opportunities at the highest level have been limited, he remains a dependable option in the national pool and continues to sharpen his game through domestic competitions.

In the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2025, Rashid represents the Kathmandu Gorkhas, adding depth to their fast-bowling resources. His experience in the national setup, coupled with his calm approach under pressure, makes him a useful squad member for the franchise. While he may not headline every match, his ability to deliver steady spells and maintain discipline gives his captain greater flexibility.
