Sakib Hussain

Sakib Hussain is a rising Indian fast bowler from Bihar known for his raw pace and ability to generate steep bounce. Hussain has emerged as one of the most inspiring young cricketers in the domestic circuit, combining speed with determination shaped by his challenging journey.

A right-arm medium-fast bowler capable of consistently clocking speeds above 140 km/h, he represents Bihar in domestic cricket and is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for the IPL 2026 season. 

Sakib Hussain Early Life and Background

Sakib Hussain was born on 14 December 2004 in Gopalganj, Bihar, into a financially struggling family. His father worked as a labourer, and the family faced significant hardships while supporting his cricketing ambitions.

In his early years, Sakib often trained without proper equipment, sometimes even playing matches in worn-out shoes. To support himself and his family, he participated in local tennis-ball tournaments, earning small amounts while sharpening his skills.

From practising in difficult conditions to bowling with pace on bigger stages, Sakib’s early life reflects grit, sacrifice, and a relentless pursuit of opportunity.

Sakib Hussain IPL Career

Sakib Hussain’s IPL journey reflects a steady rise built on persistence and performance. His first exposure to the league came in 2023 when he joined the Chennai Super Kings as a net bowler, gaining valuable experience by bowling to top international players.

In 2024, he was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 20 lakh. Although he did not get an opportunity to play, he was part of the squad during their title-winning campaign.

At the IPL 2026 auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured his services for INR 30 lakh, marking a fresh chapter in his career.
