Flora Mary Devonshire is an emerging New Zealand cricketer who has quickly made a name for herself with her all-round ability. A left-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, she represents Central Districts (Central Hinds) in domestic cricket and earned her international debut in 2025.

Devonshire first broke into the domestic scene in January 2023 when she made her List A debut in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield. Later that year, she appeared in the Super Smash, where her bowling and lower-order batting began to attract attention. Over subsequent seasons, she displayed steady growth, highlighted by her ability to build innings under pressure and her knack for breakthroughs with the ball. One of her standout moments came when she claimed a five-wicket haul against Canterbury Magicians, underlining her potential as a match-winner.

Her domestic consistency was rewarded with a call-up to the New Zealand White Ferns squad, and she made her T20I debut against Sri Lanka in March 2025. Later that same year, she achieved another career milestone by being named in the squad for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, reflecting her rapid rise in the national setup. She got selected in the WC squad despite not playing a single ODI match.

At just 22, Devonshire is viewed as part of the new generation of White Ferns. Her versatile skill set provides balance to the side, with her left-arm spin offering variety in attack and her batting giving depth to the lineup. She remains one of the brightest young prospects in New Zealand women’s cricket.

In 2022, Devonshire was distressed and had almost decided to quit cricket, but later changed her mind.

The 2003-born cricketer has sport in her family’s blood. Her parents, Mike and Susie, have always supported her, along with her two older brothers, Charlie and Max.

The siblings all attended Havelock North Primary School, where they began playing Milo cricket. Later in her childhood, she joined the Havelock North Cricket Club, where she played primarily alongside boys.

The Hawke's Bay girl has studied accounting and economics at the University of Canterbury.
