Harry Gurney

A left-arm seamer with intelligent variations, Harry Gurney made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 2007 and was impressive in his first season with his left-arm seam bowling. 

Gurney was the star with the ball in the 2011 T20 Blast for Leicestershire, picking up 23 wickets to help his team win the T20 Championship. 

At the end of 2011, the Nottingham-born joined Northamptonshire and again impressed with the ball, scalping 21 wickets in 10 championship appearances. 

Gurney constantly knocked at the doors of selectors and his opportunity arrived in the only ODI match against Scotland in 2014 as he went wicketless in his first match.

Gurney was a travelling reserve for the ICC World T20 in 2014. His ability to pick up wickets at the top was the reason why the left-armer travelled with the squad for the World Cup.

The seamer failed to impress the national selectors and was left out of the England squad for the 2015 World Cup.

He found a new lease of life in the T20 circuit and won the 2018-19 Big Bash League with Melbourne Renegades. He gave up on his red-ball cricket in 2019 to concentrate on the shortest form of the game. Gurney signed for the Barbados Tridents in the 2019 CPL and later that year extended his contract with Nottinghamshire.

In 2021 he was selected in the Manchester Originals squad for the inaugural edition of the Hundreds.

A wicket-taking bowler, the Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer failed to replicate his good domestic form at the international level. He eventually decided to concentrate on the T20 format which has done wonders for him as of late.
