One of the most attractive stroke makers of the red-ball, Joe Denly is a highly credentialed English batsman who was the first Canterbury-born cricketer to be capped by the club in 2008.

Denly made his first-class debut playing for Kent against Oxford University in early 2004 aged 18 and after a string of impressive domestic performances for Kent and England Lions, he received his maiden international call-up in 2007 in the ODI series against Ireland. On his debut, he scored his maiden international fifty, making an invaluable 67 runs in a 3-run victory against the Irish. Three days later, Denly made his T20I debut against Australia and was sent off on a golden duck by Brett Lee.

The County superstar, Denly has gone from strengths to strengths in all three formats, and in 2016, he improved his career-best score with a double hundred against Northamptonshire and bettered it again with 227 at Worcester in the following season. 2017 was a golden year for Denly as he amassed over 1,800 runs in all formats and was the top scorer in the NatWest T20 Blast.

In 2018, Denly became the first player ever to score a century and pick a hat-trick in the same T20I fixture against Surrey in the Vitality Blast. The end of 2018 saw Denly bag up the PCA’s Vitality Blast and Royal London One Cup Most Valuable Players Award as well as the 2018 overall County MVP Award.

HE was included in the 2019 Ashes Series and played every match in the competition. His contribution in the Headingley Test match and a career-best of 94 in the last test had a massive effect on the outcome of the Ashes as England managed to draw the series 2-2.

At the age of 35, Denly has a few good years in international cricket and he would be looking to make the most of it.
