Liam Livingstone has become one of the most destructive middle-order batters present in the English white-ball scenes. Having made his debut for England in 2017, Livingstone has established himself as a sensational striker of the ball, who can bowl occasional off-break and leg-breaks.

Owing to his T20 exploits, Livingstone was rewarded with a maiden international cap against South Africa in 2017. He didn’t make much of an impact and returned with scores of 16 and 0.

Primarily a white-ball player, Livingstone bagged his first IPL contract when he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2019 IPL Auctions. He played a few matches and showed glimpses of his prowess with a knock of 44 off 26 deliveries against Sunrisers Hyderabad. But he was overlooked from the XI once Ben Stokes returned.

However, things changed for the dashing all-rounder in 2019, when he signed a contract with Perth Scorchers for the BBL, playing a vital role and scoring 425 runs. In the subsequent season, he scored 426 runs, in a season where the Scorchers finished as runners-up.

Livingstone’s performance earned him his maiden call-up to England’s ODI squad in early 2021, and he made his debut in March against India. Livingstone made an immediate impact, averaging 63 in the series and showcasing his aggressive stroke play.

July 2021 was a landmark moment in his career. In the opening T20I against Pakistan, Livingstone blasted his first century in the format, scoring 103 runs and becoming only the third Englishman to achieve the feat. During the series, he also registered the fastest half-century (17 balls) and century (42 balls) for England in T20Is.

His performances earned him a place in England’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

In February 2022, Livingstone was bought by the Punjab Kings for the IPL season, where he made headlines for hitting the tournament’s longest six at 117 meters. That April, he also joined Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred’s 2022 edition.

June 2022 saw another explosive knock as Livingstone smashed a 17-ball fifty—the joint-second fastest in ODI history—against the Netherlands. England finished the match with a world-record total of 498/4.

Livingstone’s T20 franchise career continued to flourish as MI Cape Town drafted him in August 2022 for the inaugural SA20 League, where he was among the highest-paid players alongside Jos Buttler, securing a contract worth USD 500,000.

He was once again included in England’s squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. England went on to win the title for a second time, with Livingstone contributing 55 runs and claiming 3 wickets across six matches.

Livingstone’s consistent form saw him earn a call-up to the Test squad in October 2022 for England’s tour of Pakistan. He made his Test debut in December 2022 in the opening match of the series.

In October 2024, with regular captain Jos Buttler sidelined due to injury, Livingstone was handed the responsibility of leading England’s white-ball side on their tour of the West Indies. He led from the front in the second ODI, scoring his first-ever century in the format—an unbeaten 124.

During IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured English all-rounder Liam Livingstone for a hefty INR 8.75 crores. He began the season in fine form but saw his performances taper off midway through the tournament, leading to a temporary loss of place in the XI. Yet, when it mattered most, Livingstone returned to make decisive contributions, ultimately playing a pivotal role in RCB’s historic maiden title triumph.
