Matilda Rose “Tilly” Corteen-Coleman, born on 23 August 2007 in Canterbury, Kent, is one of England’s brightest young cricketing talents. A slow left-arm orthodox bowler with remarkable control and composure, she has already made a name for herself on both domestic and international stages.

Tilly first picked up a cricket ball at just six years old at St Lawrence & Highland Court, determined to keep pace with her older brother in backyard battles. Initially a seam bowler, she was persuaded by her under-11 coach to try spin—a decision that shaped her career. Along the way, she learned from cricketing greats like Laura Marsh, Lydia Greenway, Charlotte Edwards, and Tammy Beaumont, who inspired her approach to the game.

Her breakthrough year came in 2024. She debuted for Kent, joined South East Stars, and delivered one of the Charlotte Edwards Cup’s most unforgettable performances—taking four wickets in four balls and finishing with 5 for 19. She ended the season with 25 wickets and a PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year nomination. The same year, she became the youngest player ever to feature in The Hundred, representing Southern Brave. Her first Hundred wicket was none other than ex-Australian skipper Meg Lanning.

On the international stage, she topped England’s wicket charts at the 2025 ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia and impressed in a tri-series in Sri Lanka.

In 2025, the spinner switched her county side to Surrey.

Off the field, Corteen-Coleman is known for her bubbly personality and down-to-earth nature. She enjoys spending time with friends, walking her family dog, and listening to music before matches to stay relaxed. A big believer in hard work, she credits her success to the support of her family and the lessons learned from early club cricket.

At just 17, Tilly Corteen-Coleman’s journey is only beginning—but her fearless style suggests she’s ready to make her mark on world cricket for years to come.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the teenage cricketer says that she’s “very driven” and ready to take the next step in her career and play for England.
