Faheem Ashraf is a bowling all-rounder who plays for the Pakistan national team. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a handy lower-order batsman who has the capability to clear the boundary ropes with ease.

Ashraf aspired to become a fast bowler, but it was his lower-order pinch-hitting that brought him to the international circuit. It was in the year 2016 when Ashraf grabbed everyone’s attention with his all-around abilities. He grabbed 19 wickets in the domestic ODI series and was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

Ashraf was roped in by Islamabad United for the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Islamabad United won the tournament, and Ashraf was the key player. He took 18 wickets and scored crucial runs in crunch moments for his side. For his excellent bowling performance, Ashraf was awarded the best bowler of the tournament.

Faheem Ashraf ODI Career

The Punjab-born Faheem Ashraf pacer was eventually rewarded with a maiden international call-up as he was included in the squad to play against the West Indies. However, he did not feature in any of the matches.

Ashraf finally made his ODI debut for Pakistan on June 12, 2017, against Sri Lanka during the ICC Champions Trophy in Cardiff, where he picked up two wickets and bowled at a quick pace to rattle the Lankan batters. But he rose to the ranks even before the tournament began. In a warm-up match against Bangladesh, Ashraf scored 64 runs in Pakistan's two-wicket win.

In July 2018, Ashraf took his maiden ODI fifty against Zimbabwe. After proving his value, he was named in Pakistan's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Faheem Ashraf T20I Career

Faheem Ashraf made his T20I debut for Pakistan against World XI on 12 September 2017. Only a month later, in October 2017, Ashraf made history, becoming the first Pakistani bowler to take a T20I hat-trick, achieving the feat against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi.

Fast forward to October 2025, and he achieved his best T20I bowling figures, 4/23 in 3.2 overs. He topped it off with 2/28 in the final game and was thus declared the Player of the Series for taking 6 wickets.

Faheem Ashraf Test Career

Later, Faheem Ashraf made his maiden Test appearance for Pakistan on May 11, 2018, in their historic first-ever Test match in Dublin against Ireland. On debut, Ashraf scored 83 off 111 balls.

In January 2021, during Pakistan’s first Test during the series against South Africa, Ashraf scored 64 with the bat. Since his debut, Ashraf has consistently performed in the longest format of the game for Pakistan.

No doubt, Ashraf belongs to a breed of fast bowlers who want to bowl quickly. What makes him so special is his ability to clear the boundary line with ease. Pakistan needs a genuine all-rounder, and Ashraf could be the answer for the long run.
