Born in Harare, Solomon Mire is a batting allrounder who plays for Zimbabwe cricket. Known for his big-hitting abilities, Mire came into contention for the national honours on the back of a stellar performance in the domestic circuit in the 2013/14 season.

Mire is a right-arm pacer and a handy lower-order batsman who has represented Zimbabwe at the junior as well as senior level.

It was in the 2006/07 domestic season where Mire caught the eyes of the national selectors. He played some scintillating innings, including a gritty 94 against the Southerns. He was quickly drafted in the Zimbabwe side for the 2008 ICC U-19 World Cup.

However, he still had to wait six more years to make his international debut for Zimbabwe. Mire was selected in the ODI squad for the series against Bangladesh in 2014. The street-smart all-rounder made his much-awaited debut in the first game of the series, scoring just 11 runs and going wicketless.

After much debate between the selectors, Mire was selected in the Zimbabwe squad for the 2015 ICC World Cup. The allrounder had a disappointing campaign, picking up just 2 wickets in five games and was also ineffective with the bat as Zimbabwe crashed out of the group stage.

In an ODI game against Sri Lanka in 2017, Mire played the knock of his life slamming a 96-ball 112 to chase down a total of 316. It was Zimbabwe’s first victory against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.

In 2019, the International Cricket Council suspended Zimbabwe cricket and barred them from taking part in the ICC event. As a result, Mire took retirement from international cricket.

A talented allrounder, Mire had to cut short his international career due to the ban imposed on his team and the internal politics that was going around in the Zimbabwe camp. He has the ability to pick up wickets at crucial junctures which made him a valuable asset to the Zimbabwe team.
