Shadab Khan (Islamabad United Captain & POTM): "[On confidence, while batting after taking wickets with the ball] As an all-rounder, when you perform well in one aspect, you feel it’s your day, and that boosts your confidence—but you still need to stick to the basics. Like bowling and batting are going well, then it becomes even better. For example, if my bowling is doing well, I also want to contribute with the bat, and when that rhythm comes, it feels good. If you follow a good process, things tend to work out. The key is to keep doing the right things consistently.
[On Sameer Minhas] Our partnership was outstanding, and he played exceptionally well. He is a very exciting talent, and we always knew that he just needed the right platform and confidence to express himself. The way he played, especially with such maturity, was impressive, and hopefully, there are many more performances to come from him.
[On thought process during the partnership] When the partnership started, we focused on singles and doubles and gave ourselves some time. There wasn’t too much pressure initially to hit boundaries. This ground allows the ball to travel well, and since our powerplay went quite well, it gave us the cushion that even if a few dot balls came, we still had time. But at the same time, you have to pick your bowlers and choose the right moments to attack. I think Abrar and Usman were their key bowlers, and handling them was important before targeting others later.
[On gifting sunglasses to Faheem after he dropped the catch] It was quite difficult on that side of the ground today, whether you wore glasses or not. But these are professional players, and they are equipped to handle such situations."
