SO won by 9 runs
6:50 AM IST, 6:20 PM Local Time: Dasun Shanaka's brilliant final over where he picks up 4 wickets in as many deliveries to close the contest helps Seattle Orcas defend in a low scoring thriller at Pomona!

The Texas Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Amshi de Silva (3/15) and Adam Milne (2/10) bowled super economic spells to ensure it was the right call and restricted the Orcas to 121/9 with Cameron Gannon top scoring with 20.

It wasn't the greatest of starts for TSK as they lost Faf du Plessis, Saiteja Reddy Mukkamalla and Rilee Rossouw inside the powerplay to score just 35 runs. Number 4 Shubham Ranjane held one end as wickets tumbled from the other.

Donovan Ferreira scored 22 off 16 and added 43 runs for the 6th wicket with Ranjane. With 28 needed off the final 2 overs, the duo teamed up to hit 13 runs against Jasdeep Singh in the 19th over.

Dasun Shanaka was tasked to defend 15 runs in the final over and did so with distinction after conceding 5 runs from the first 2 balls as he claimed 4 wickets in 4 deliveries to send Ferreira, Calvin Savage, Adam Milne and de Silva back in the shed to steal a famous low scoring win - a 9-run victory for the Orcas over the Super Kings to get to the second position in the points table.
Faf du Plessis (Texas Super Kings Captain): "Yeah, disappointed. Obviously, a low-scoring thriller that you feel like you can get across the line, but it was hard work. You have to give credit to the way Baartman bowled; he got quite a bit out of the pitch.

[Where did it slip away?] It's difficult to say because the nature of the pitch isn't one where you feel there's just a single moment. Our method was to try and take it deep because it's not the kind of wicket where you can just take the game on and get boundaries. It's almost like playing one-day cricket in the middle period, where the guys were trying to extend the partnership. But it's also important that the run rate doesn't creep up too high, because the surface doesn't allow you to go at 12, 13, or 14 an over toward the back end. It's easier said than done, though, with the ball moving so much.

[How do you rebound from this?] Yeah, we have to. The nature of the competition is still such that if you play well, you can improve your net run rate and get through. We weren't at our best here in LA, so we're going back to our home turf, and hopefully we can bring our best."

Dasun Shanaka (Player of the Match): "[on whether it's his first hattrick] Indeed it is in all my cricket career.

[on 4 wickets in 4 balls before by a Sri Lankan] Of course, it reminds me of the great Lasith Malinga, my captain.

[on the feeling] Feels amazing to get a double hat-trick. It's a different stage but really happy.

[on bowling the final over] I had a bad day when we played in San Francisco so I knew it will be me or Stoinis for the final over. He had bowled 4 overs already so it was only me left. Donovan is someone who can finish the game from anywhere. Happy to get him out and then it was the icing on the cake.

Our bowlers bowled really well. Cheers to them."
Marcus Stoinis (Seattle Orcas Captain): "[On the thrilling finish] Nice to pull that off after we've lost a couple of close ones throughout the tournament. Full credit to all the boys, even the batters. Even though it wasn't the score we wanted, we ended up fighting to a reasonable target and giving our bowlers something to defend. And then our bowlers did a great job.

[On lower-order batting performance and Harmeet's injury] Yeah, I'm assuming Harmeet will get a scan. It's unfortunate about his hamstring, but he did a great job not only putting some runs on the board but also going back out there and taking another swing. I know he would have loved to be out there with the boys, but unfortunately, he couldn't. He'll get a scan in the next couple of days. And then Gannon, with the bat, surprised us all. It looked like he was going to get run out a few times, and there was a lot happening at both the striker's and non-striker's end, but he did well in the field as well.

[On Baartman and Shanaka] Baarts (Baartman) has been awesome throughout the whole tournament, so consistent. I can bowl him in tough overs, and he's turned the game when we've needed him. And then Dasun bowled well throughout the whole game, really. But that last over under pressure. I mean, a double hat-trick is one thing, but more so, just stepping up under pressure and sealing the game for us."
