6:40 PM IST and Local Time: India Warriors have defeated the Nagpur Heroz in the high scoring encounter where a total of 489 runs have been scored in the 40 overs. They have toppled the Heroz by 33 runs and this will be a huge boost in their NRR.
Earlier coming to bat first, the Warriors were off to a good start as Vaibhav Lande hit 2 sixes and a maximum to score 16 off 5. But Lande went back after that and Sahil Sheikh (14) and Ashit Singh (0) and were reduced to 43/3. Skipper Akshay Wadkar and Satyam Bhoyar then rebuilt the innings. Bhoyar was belligerent and scored 56 off 23 hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes. Wadkar was reticent and the stabilizer of the innings with his 24-ball 29.
The partnership between Shubham Dubey and Abhishek Agarwal was the game changer. They added 97 runs from 32 balls and their partnership helped the Warriors to put up 89 in the final five overs. Dubey hit 4 fours and 7 sixes to score 74 off 33. Agarwal was more dangerous in terms of striking the ball. He hit 6 fours and 5 sixes in his 19 balls to get to 63. India Warriors posted 261/5 on the board.
For the Nagpur Heroz, Umesh Yadav, Rajneesh Gurbani, Tejas Soni, Rajveer Jolly and Ankush Tammiwar picked up a wicket each.
Nagpur Heroz came to chase the mammoth target of 262 and their openers, Parth Rekhade and Aman Mokhade went hammer and tongs right from the word go. They took on the Warriors pacers to post 41 in the first 15 balls before Rekhade got dismissed. Mokhade however continued to bludgeon the bowlers and he hit 3 fours and 4 sixes to score 42 off just 14 balls. But after his dismissal, Heroz lost Kartik Rathod and were 3 down for 84 with three balls to go in the powerplay.
Heroz eventually lost Rajveer Jolly and Akash Kombe cheaply but Siddhesh Wath's blistering knock ensured that they did not surrender sans a fight. Wath got little support from Apoorv Wankhade (12 off 15) at the other end. He was the lone fighter and he hit 8 fours and 5 sixes to score 78 off 33. But after his dismissal, it was tough for the lower order batters to help the side to get to the victory and they finished with 228/8, losing the game by 33 runs.
For the Warriors, Praful Hinge, Darshan Nalkande, Rahul Dongarwar and Gurdeep Singh Sodhi picked up 2 wickets each. Nalkande however conceded 70 in his four overs and Sodhi contrastingly conceded just 22.
