12:06 AM IST, Local Time: End of the game. Shivamogga Yodhas have put up a clinical performance and they have registered a win by 38 runs. Hubli Tigers end their innings at 169/9 in 20 overs. Yodhas have now secured their fifth win while Hubli have registered their fifth defeat of the season.
Shivamogga Yodhas were sent to bat first and they scored 207/6 on the back of some fine knocks by Smaran Ravichandran, Aadarsh Prajwal and Aneesh KV. In reply, Hubli's innings got off to a disastrous start as Mohammed Taha fell for 11 in the second over before Hardik Raj (8) and Harsha Wardhan Khuba (7) departed in quick succession.
At 28/3 in just 4.3 overs, the Tigers were staring at a batting collapse. Wicketkeeper-batter Kruthik Krishna attempted to steady the innings but managed only nine before becoming Shreesha Achar's first victim. Captain Aneeshwar Gautam then played a positive hand, striking four boundaries in his 19-ball 25, but his dismissal left Hubli struggling at 63/5 in the 10th over.
With the innings hanging in the balance and HT needing 141 runs from 60 balls, Shivkumar Rakshith and Abhinav Manohar launched a spirited recovery. Rakshith took the aggressive route from the outset, smashing 52 off just 27 deliveries, including three fours and four sixes, while Manohar complemented him with a fluent 38 off 27 balls, featuring five boundaries and a six. Their attacking stand shifted the momentum back in Hubli's favour and propelled the total past the 150-run mark. The duo added 93 runs for the sixth wicket.
However, Shivamogga fought back brilliantly at the death. Manohar fell in the 18th over before Shreesha Achar got three wickets (Rakshith, Manvanth Kumar and Shikhar Shetty) in the penultimate over. Despite the late wickets and a disastrous start, Hubli managed to finish with 169/9.
For Shivamogga, spinner Shreesha Achar was the standout bowler, returning outstanding figures of 4/26 from his four overs. Abhilash Shetty claimed two wickets, while Naveen MG also picked up two scalps. Yashovardhan Parantap chipped in with one wicket as the Yodhas pulled things back impressively after conceding ground during the Rakshith-Manohar partnership.
One important fact to mention is that despite no rain interruptions, this match lasted for more than 4 hours and 30 minutes. This is something that the KSCA needs to address soon. A 20-over game can't last this long if there have been no rain interruptions.
