Shubhang Hegde collects the 'Runners-Up' awards on behalf of his team, Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters!
Shubhang Hegde (Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters Captain): "(On losing a close final) Yes, of course it hurts, especially after playing such a good tournament. But full credit to Shivamogga for the way they played today. They were the better team on the day.

(Do you regret batting first?) Not really. I think we would have taken 185 at the start. Looking back, it probably came down to just one over here or there—or even a couple of deliveries. Those small moments could have been the difference between winning and losing the tournament.

(On rebuilding innings after losing early wickets) Yes, losing three wickets in the powerplay always makes things difficult. But Sumit and I kept talking in the middle, and we felt that one or two boundaries at the right time could have changed the result. Unfortunately, it just wasn't our day.

(Did you enjoy leading this team?) Absolutely. It was a great experience leading this group. We had everything in this squad—quality batters, quality bowlers—and everyone performed their role really well. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better team.

(On the franchise owners and coaching staff) A lot of credit goes to them for putting this team together. Every year they provide us with everything we need—from excellent practice facilities to outstanding support throughout the tournament. The management and support staff deserve a lot of appreciation.

(On the groundsmen) A lot of credit needs to go to the groundsmen for the way they conducted the games, especially with the rain around in Hubballi and Mysuru. Also, credit goes to the KSCA for organising this wonderful tournament.

(On the supporters) I think every time we've come to Bengaluru, we've had tremendous support. There has been a huge crowd at every game, and I'd like to thank each and every one of them for coming out and backing us throughout the tournament."
Luvnith Sisodia (Shivamogga Yodhas Captain): "(Another superb knock. It's such a wonderful time. I'm sure you must be delighted.) I mean, of course. I did, it's like a dream for every player to try and perform in the finals and get their team through.

(On the injuries that have haunted them amidst the tournament) Of course, it was a very big setback because the combination was set, and of course, losing players like R Smaran, Mohsin, and Yash, who were our top players, was a very big setback for us, but everybody in the camp were very positive. We gelled well, and here we are.

(On losing the toss) No, we were looking to bowl first anyways, we won the toss technically.

(On the loss of early wickets in the chase and the mood in the dugout after that) We weren't worried because you know, we believe in every player's ability, so there was nothing that we had to worry about.

(On his mindset during the final's knock and did he feel any pressure during that) No, not really. Now you have to back your instincts, and it is a format where you have to take chances, so you can't rely on singles and doubles always.

(On the team's bowling performance in the tournament) I mean all the bowlers. Especially Abhilash Shetty, who has been clocking 145-146 clicks, and then he has the purple cup with him. With MG, Achar, Shreesha, Mohsin, Punja, all of them they've contributed to the team. So, as a team, we won.

(On his thoughts towards the gameplay in the end moments) I mean, it was a little tight. Aneesh is known for making a lot of drama, so you know a typical Aneesh.

(On the mood of the dugout) It was a mix throughout. Initially, we started off with a win, and then we had a loss, and then we had a few players injured, and everything was a roller coaster. But then they say, it's not how you start. It's how you end, so we ended on the winning side.

(On the supporters and fans) I would like to thank everybody who has come here to support us from the Yodhas family. And, of course, thank all my players and the coaching staff to be handling all of us. And here we are, giving them results.

(Did he enjoy his captaincy?)
Of course, I enjoyed the role, but then it's easier to keep it bat."
Venkatesh Prasad, the president of KSCA, hands over the "Winner's Trophy" to Luvnith Sisodia. He takes hold of it and joins his team behind the Champions Board. It is time for some smiles and snaps!
Phew! What a dramatic month of cricketing action we just witnessed. The KSCA Maharaja keeps on getting better with every passing season and as fans we cannot ask for anything more.

Firstly, let's spare a thought for the Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters. They were on an 8-match winning streak and were surely the best team of the event right up to the finals. Well, that is why sometimes sport is a tough thing to take up. On the main day, the best team of the event fell short as they could not bring out their best and they had to settle for second place. Nonetheless, it was a fabulous campaign and one to be proud of.

Now let's move to the winners. The Shivamogga Yodhas had a tournament filled with turbulence. A win to start with, then losing 4 out of the next 5 games. Then winning 3 on the bounce before getting bundled out for 66 in their final league game. They were given the task of winning 3 straight knockout games to win the trophy. Well, they accepted it with a smile.  Luvnith Sisodia, the captain, the player of the final, the player of the tournament, led from the front and inspiringly led his team to glory.

On this note, we would like to wrap up our coverage of the KSCA Maharaja Trophy 2026. It was a great pleasure bringing this beautiful tournament to you. I, Manan Mehta, your commentator for today would like to sign off on behalf of my colleagues Mohammad Anab, Abhishek Sharma and Ashok Dayma. Stay Healthy and Stay Safe. Goodnight!
