Rinku Singh (Meerut Mavericks Captain): "(On the team's batting) Our batting order hasn't been performing as well as we'd like. Even today, we lost three wickets. I spoke to the batters yesterday about how we could prepare ourselves better, how we could approach the game and how we could take the match deep. That was the discussion we had.

(On the first innings) They [Noida] batted really well in the first 10 overs, and we didn't bowl as well as we should have initially. When Zeeshan came on after 10 overs, he got Shaurya out, and from there we got a bit of momentum. Then we got Ravi's wicket and the momentum kept building. (On bowling the penultimate over) I was thinking that I could bowl to Prashant Veer. I told Zeeshan that I could get him out, so I felt it could be a really good over for me and for my team.

(On his injury) I'll do anything for the team, whether it's an injury or anything else. Yesterday, I felt that if I was even a little bit better and had a batsman batting with me, we could have won that game. Today was the same. I took a painkiller and played. My hand was a little better, but I'm still in quite a bit of pain.

(On his batting approach tonight) You have to prepare a little and think about which ball you can play, how you can take a single and how far back you are standing. Those things keep going through your mind. At the position I bat, I've become accustomed to getting these kinds of situations — a certain number of balls and runs — so that has become a habit.

(On Yash Garg) Yash has been doing really well for our team for the last four years. He contributes with wickets and in the field as well, and with the bat too. In his first UP league game, he helped us win, and today he has helped us win again. He's a very deserving player and is doing really well for our team."
Yash Garg has been adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round performance!
Yash Garg (Player of the Match): "(On being a go-to player in all departments) I've been practicing for this in my batting, to contribute if the team collapses. I learned from the previous game not to play rash shots in crunch situations. Wanted to take the game deep.

(On motivating himself after dropping the first catch) The light came in the way for the first chance. I conceded a boundary as well, but vowed to field better after that.

(On Rinku's advice when he came on to bowl) He told me to back myself and bowl wicket-to-wicket. We have three good spinners, we have benefitted with it, picking up wickets and putting pressure on the opposition.

(On his promotion up the order) I was hoping I didn't need to bat, but I wanted to bat deep and help my team win.

(Any advice when you walked out to bat?) Nothing as such, just needed to bat deep. We knew if Rinku bhaiya was around, even a target of 50 in five overs was possible. Needed to take it deep.

(On his learning from today's knock) Bhaiya was advising me to keep my mind clear and go after the hittable deliveries and defend the good ones. He's really active while batting as well, makes us run hard between the wickets. (Chuckles)"
A fine performance by Meerut Mavericks as they register a six-wicket win with two overs to spare. They qualify for the final on the second try. The troika of Yash Garg, Rinku Singh and Zeeshan Ansari did the trick by winning the match for them. Noida Kings gave a good fight but it was not enough to defend their total of 134/8. The side must be feeling that had they batted well in the slog overs, then they might have edged out Mavericks in this game.
Mavericks have now qualified for their fourth consecutive final in the UP T20 league. The side has already won the title once and will be raring to go for their second trophy when they meet Lucknow Falcons in the final on Sunday evening (Sept 6). Notably, Bhuvneshwar Kumar-led Falcons have reached the final for the first time but they will draw confidence from their win over Mavericks in the Qualifier 1.
That's it from our live coverage of this fixture in UP T20 2026. This is Mohammad Anab signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Rajarshi Das and our scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma. See you on Sunday for the final. Cheers, till then.
