FOUR!! That's it. England won by 5 wickets. Fuller ball on the stump line, Wyatt lofts it over bowler's head straight down the ground for a winning boundary. This was a dominating performance from the hosts as they brush aside the visitors with 107 deliveries left!
ENGW won by 5 wickets
Deepak: Well, that's the end of the first ODI between ENGLAND-W and SOUTH AFRICA-W. Where England defeated South Africa by 5 wickets.

Earlier South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first.

South Africa Women couldn't really get going in most part of their innings, apart from one or two major partnerships. South Africa have been bundled out for 218 under 48 overs.

The proteas didn't get off to a good start as they lost two quick wickets in the powerplay. Katherine Brunt was on fire as she picked the wickets of Andrie Steyn and Laura Goodall. Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus did try to rebuild but the latter couldn't get going as she was undone by the flight of Sophie Ecclestone.

Tryon and Nadine de Klerk did well as the duo stitched together a record sixth-wicket partnership of 97 against England. But once the well-set Tryon departed, it was a collapse. Tryon was short of her hundred by just 12 runs and then the tail didn't have any answers for the accurate and sharp bowling from the hosts.

From 205-5 to 218 all-out, the collapse happened!! From the bowling point of view, Sciver was most successful with her figures of 9.4-0-59-4. Brunt scalped three wickets while Ecclestone and Dean pouched a wicket each.

England came out to chase down 219 runs. Emma Lamb and Tammy Beaumont(1 of 8) started the inning for England. But Beaumont couldn’t settle on the crease and was clean bowled by Kapp in the third over of the inning. Sophia Dunkley joined Lamb at number 3 and both of them started building partnerships between them. Lamb started playing good shots and completed her maiden ODI Fifty of just 51 balls and put England in good condition. Dunkley gave her wicket to Klerk and this partnership of 78 runs for the 2nd wickets was broken. Dunkley departed scoring 22 runs off 24 balls. Sciver joined Lamb in the middle and they both started playing some good shots in the middle. Sciver scored her 17th ODI fifty in just 31 balls. The partnership of 89 runs for the 3rd wicket was broken as Sciver departed in 26th over of the inning scoring quick 55 runs off 36 balls. Lamb scored her maiden ODI hundred of just 91 balls. And departed scoring 102 runs. Skipper Heather Knight scored 20 runs off 21 balls, and Danielle Wyatt scored quick 14 runs off 5 balls and sealed the match for England.

On the other hand, Klerk picked up a couple of wickets giving away 44 runs in 8 overs.
Kapp, Khaka, and Sekhukhune shared one wicket each.
Sune Luus (South Africa Women Captain): "Their batters just came out and batter very well, gave us very less opportunities!! We need to find a way to build momentum against this England side. We can learn from the way England batters and come up with better plans in the next game!! She was due for a while and we expected this to happen, excellent knock by her under pressure."
Heather Knight (England Women Captain): "Yeah, it was a good performance. After the world cup, you know you are playing your first ODI and it was a good team performance. Set up nicely by our bowlers early on and backed by our batters. We needed to give the new guys the chance and they stood tall. Katherine showed why she is such a class player again today. Lamb, she was brilliant today. It was nice to watch her play so freely. Sciver, I mean she is in a form of her life. She continues to perform every day. Yes, I will be at five in the next game as well. Overall, it was a good team performance and I am happy with it."
Emma Lamb (Player of the Match): "Yeah, absolutely!! What a day, I am absolutely buzzing to get a 100! I just wanted to be positive, and if it was in my zone I was prepared to go hard. I have full confidence in my team and they push me in the right direction all the time!! Very happy at the moment, I am sure my mom and dad will be watching from home."
