They deserve it as they have won the last three matches and were the better side throughout the series. New Zealand with a lot of thinking to do.
Chasing a mammoth 312 for the win, New Zealand never got going. Devon Conway went early. Will Young scored 24 off 21 balls. Henry Nicholls scored 41 off 48 balls. Tom Latham the skipper scored 13 while Glenn Phillips scored 25. Rachin Ravindra showed his promise as he scored 61 off 48 balls in the end, but it was a bridge too far in the end for the Kiwis. Kyle Jamieson scored 15 as well while 16 extras were given by the fielding side.
Moeen Ali was the pick of the bowlers for England with figures of 4/50 in 10 overs. A wicket apiece for David Willey, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, and Liam Livingstone.
Earlier in the day, England won the toss and decided to bat first. Jonny Bairstow went early scoring 13. But the innings revolved around a magnificent innings from Dawid Malan who top scored with 127 off 114 balls. Joe Root looked scratchy in his 29 off 40 balls. Harry Brook got to double figures but missed out. Skipper Jos Buttler scored 36 off 31 balls while Liam Livingstone scored 28 off 38 balls. Sam Curran chipped in with 20 off 13 balls. David Willey scored 19 off 11 balls while Brydon Carse remained unbeaten on 15* off 13 balls. 10 extras were given by the fielding side. They finished with 311/9 in 50 overs.
From New Zealand's bowling point of view, Rachin Ravindra was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/60 in 10 overs. A couple of wickets for Matt Henry, and Daryl Mitchell while Kyle Jamieson got a wicket as well. It was a hard day for them as the Kiwis lost the services of Southee and Lister due to injuries. Southee did not come out to bat due to thumb fracture.
