10:10 PM IST, 5:40 PM Local Time: Another nail-biting contest and the London Spirit Women fail to hold their nerves as they lose the game and get knocked out of the Women's Hundred 2023. The Northern Superchargers Women beat the London Spirit Women by four wickets to qualify for the finals of the competition. The Spirit's campaign comes to an end. With this, the Manchester Originals Women also get eliminated from the tournament.
Chasing 136, the Superchargers Women lost Marie Kelly early in the innings. Jemimah Rodrigues was joined by Phoebe Litchfield and both built a solid partnership for the second wicket. They didn't allow the Spirit Women to get back in the contest. Both stitched a 49-run stand between them before Rodrigues was trapped in front of the stumps on 30.
Litchfield continued playing her strokes and but lacked support from the other end. She hit some beautiful strokes before holing out in the deep on 38. It allowed the Spirit Women to pull back things. The game went down the wire and with six required from the last set, Georgia Wareham (19*) and Kate Cross (15*) held their nerves to take the Superchargers across the line with a ball to spare. With this four-wicket win, the Northern Superchargers Women qualified for the finals of the Women's Hundred 2023 Competition. Sarah Glenn and Amelia Kerr picked up three and two scalps respectively for the Spirit Women but it wasn't enough as they get knocked out of the competition.
Earlier, the Spirit Women were asked to bat first and they got off to a shaky start. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and didn't quite get going. Danielle Gibson looked good for her 24 but failed to convert the start. In walked Amelia Kerr and played a fantastic knock to keep the Superchargers Women at bay.
Kerr played brilliantly and kept finding regular boundaries. She brought up her maiden fifty in the Hundred Competition and remained unbeaten on 60 off just 32 balls to power the Spirit Women to 135 at the end of their 100 balls. The Superchargers Women picked up seven wickets in total. Their batters then stepped up to chase down the total to take their side to finals of the Women's Hundred 2023 Competition.
