Earlier in the game, Winning the toss, Bangladesh Women chose to bat first and Shamima Sultana and Fargana Hoque opened the innings for Bangladesh Women and they got off to a cautious start, gradually increasing the run rate. The Indian bowlers seemed clueless in the first half of the innings as the openers built a strong partnership of 93 runs.
Finally, in the 27th over, Sneh Rana managed to dismiss Shamima Sultana, who scored 52 runs. Nigar Sultana then joined Fargana Hoque, and they kept the scoreboard ticking with occasional boundaries, forming a valuable 71-run partnership for the second wicket. Towards the end, Bangladesh Women lost a couple of quick wickets, including Nigar Sultana for 24 runs.
Fargana Hoque continued her splendid innings, reaching a remarkable century with 107 runs, becoming the first Bangladeshi player to achieve this milestone in the Women's ODI. As a result, Bangladesh Women set a target of 226 runs for India Women to chase.
From the bowling point of view, Sneh Rana was the standout bowler for India, taking a couple of important wickets, while Devika Vaidya also contributed with one wicket.
India Women's chase of 226 runs got off to a disastrous start,as they lost the wickets of Shafali Verma (4) and Yastika Bhatia(5) within 5 overs. However, Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol formed a crucial partnership and steered the innings back on track. With a positive approach, they kept the run rate ticking and managed to score 59 runs during the powerplay, despite the loss of two wickets.
The duo's solid strokeplay led to a remarkable 107-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Smriti Mandhana eventually fell to Fahima Khatun after scoring 59 runs, but her earlier dropped catch by Nigar Sultana proved costly for Bangladesh Women.
A brief rain interruption didn't deter the focus, Harleen. Harleen's exceptional innings of 77 came to an end due to a run-out, but Jemimah continued to rotate the strike, taking India closer to the target. In a nail-biting climax, the match swung in Bangladesh's favor as Nahida Akter claimed two crucial wickets in the 48th over.
With just one wicket in hand and 9 runs needed off 12 balls, all eyes were on Jemimah. As tension mounted, the game boiled down to needing one run off four balls, but unfortunately, the last wicket fell, resulting in a thrilling tie.
Nahida Akter was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh Women as she scalped 3 wickets. Marufa Akter chipped in with a couple of wickets.
