8:25 AM IST, 3:55 PM Local Time: That's the end of the game and an impressive win for England Women as they came back from a tough situation to win the game by 15 runs and take a 2-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series. New Zealand were good throughout but lost the key moments of the game and now have a mountain to climb in the series.
Chasing 150 for the win, New Zealand had their moments but lost wickets at the wrong time. Bezuidenhout went cheaply. Suzie Bates scored 19. Amelia Kerr held the innings together for her 44. Skipper Sophie Devine scored 17. Maddy Green scored 16. Lea Tahuhu scored 15 off 9 in the end. But it was a bridge too far as New Zealand finished with 134/8 in 20 overs losing by 15 runs.
All the England bowlers bowled well. A couple of wickets apiece for Lauren Bell, and Charlie Dean. A wicket apiece for Gibson, Linsey Smith, and Sarah Glenn as well. England were good when it really mattered.
Earlier in the game, New Zealand sent England into bat first. England lost Dunkley early. Tammy Beaumont scored 19 while Maia Bouchier scored 12. But it was skipper Heather Knight who held the innings together and accelerated when it mattered as she scored an unbeaten 56* off 40 balls. Gibson scored 14 while Charlie Dean scored 16 off 14 balls. Sarah Glenn scored 13* off 6 balls in the end. They recovered from 77/6 to get to 149/7 in 20 overs. England got 69 in the last 6 overs and that was the big difference in the end.
For New Zealand, they kept things under check for majority of the part and then lost their way in the end overs. Rosemary Mair was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/25 in 4 overs. A couple of wickets for skipper Sophie Devine who went for 18 in her final over she bowled. A wicket apiece for Lea Tahuhu, Fran Jonas, and Amelia Kerr. Jess Kerr returned wicketless despite bowling a miserly spell.
