6:56 PM IST and 6:26 PM Local Time | That's it. Peshawar Region win by 21 runs.
Opting to bat first, Peshawar Region rode fifties from Sahibzada Farhan (64) and Mohammad Haris (64) to post a mammoth 195/4 in their allotted 20 overs. The best part about Peshawar’s innings was that they made full use of the powerplay overs, punished loose deliveries and got the much-needed singles. Their opener Israrullah hit a 12-ball 22 and stitched a 69-run stand with Farhan before being removed by Mohammad Shahab. Farhan and Haris then put up a 36-run partnership for the second wicket to take their team’s total past 100. Soon, the former became Shahab’s second victim. Haris and Iftikhar Ahmed (28) then combined and smashed 67 in less than six overs before the latter fell to Fayyaz Khan. Haris was out in the final over of the innings, but he made sure that Peshawar ended with a commanding score.
In reply, Abbottabad were 141/3 in 14.3 overs and looked set to cross the finish line. However, they suffered a collapse, losing seven wickets for 32 runs. Earlier, Abbottabad lost three wickets inside the powerplay, but Kamran Ghulam (67) and Afaq Khan’s (61) more than useful knocks ensured that their side stayed in the hunt. A tidy display by Peshawar’s bowlers in the death overs brought Abbottabad under pressure and they couldn’t overcome it. For Peshawar, Abbas Afridi grabbed three scalps, while Iftikhar took two.
