01:39 IST & 9:09 PM Local Time | Northern Superchargers get off the mark this season as they win their first game at their home ground against the Southern Brave by 7 wickets and with 15 balls to spare.Earlier in the day, the Southern Brave opted to bat first in a slow surface. They got off to a flying start with the bat. Callum Parkinson broke the opening partnership and dismissed the Southern Brave skipper for 19.
Southern Brave post the powerplay kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were down to 91/6 after 63 balls. Then the partnership between Kieron Pollard and Chris Jordan added 52 runs off 35 balls which gave them some stability to post a good total on the board.
Superchargers bowled really well in the last couple of sets to keep the Southern Brave down to 146/8 in their 100 balls. Callum Parkinson was the pick of the bowlers with figures off 2/38. Superchargers required to chase 147 runs in their 100 balls.
In reply, the Superchargers got off to a cracking start but they lost the wicket of Matthew Short inside the powerplay for 12 and was dismissed by Jofra Archer.
Then came in the big powerful West Indian, Nicholas Pooran who smacked all the bowlers across the ground. His Innings of 62 runs off just 34 balls which consisted of 4 Fours and 5 Sixes took the game well and truly away from the Southern Brave.
He added up 49 runs partnership with Graham Clark and 50 runs partnership with Harry Brook. The Northern Superchargers skipper finished off the game with an unbeaten knock of 34 runs off 20 balls.
Akeal Hosein, Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan picked up a wicket each which was not enough as they lost to the Northern Superchargers. A comprehensive win for the Northern Superchargers who defeated the Southern Brave by 7 wickets.
