The 26-year-old was the star of the show in the London Derby, dominating with both bat and ball. Curran pummeled Spirit bowlers in the first innings and then wreaked havoc with the ball, grabbing a hat-trick of wickets in the process. His all-round brilliance led Oval Invincibles to a 30-run victory over Spirit.
Earlier, After deciding to bat first, Invincibles got off to a lackluster start, losing Will Jacks (2) and Jordan Cox (14) cheaply. Spirit bowlers bowled in the right areas and didn't allow the batters to free their arms in the first half of the innings.
Dawid Malan took his time to settle at the crease, but just when he got going, Critchley got the better of the southpaw, trapping him for 38 runs off 29 balls. Sam Billings struggled to time the ball and retired himself out, scoring 17 runs off 22 balls.
On the strip where other batters struggled to time the ball, Sam Curran came out all guns blazing and took his side out of a dire situation. The southpaw smashed an unbeaten 51 runs off 22 balls and helped his side get close to a 150-run total.
