9:39 PM IST, 5:09 PM Local Time: The fans at Old Trafford, Manchester were in for a delight as the hosts signed off with an emphatic win against the Northern Superchargers by 17 runs.
Kathryn Bryce became the first woman in England to be retired out with the bat in the first innings but came back to pick up a hattrick and a five-wicket haul to help Originals set up a terrific win.
The Originals won the toss, elected to bat first and put up 151/3 on the board with Beth Mooney scoring an unbeaten 99 off 54 balls with 14 fours and 3 maximums opening the innings.
Kim Garth and Bryce struck early for Originals in the second innings to send the openers early. Phoebe Litchfield dug in and scored 45 off 29 adding 41 runs for the 3rd wicket with Annabel Sutherland.
Sutherland scored 26 off 21 and her compatriot Georgia Wareham 25 in 18 but besides these 3 middle order Australians, no other batter could score into double digits against the excellent bowling lineup of the hosts Originals.
Bryce picked up a hattrick across her two sets and finished with 5/13, Garth had 2/17 in her 20 balls with Sophie Ecclestone also striking once in her final set (1/32). The Oval Invincibles's win over London Spirit early in the day meant Originals were already out of the reckoning of the eliminator.
