With this result, Bangladesh go into the Qualifiers for the 2025 Women’s 50-over World Cup while New Zealand automatically qualify for the mega event!

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh got off to a good start in the Powerplay despite losing Murshida Khatun in the second over. However, the pair of Afy Fletcher and Hayley Matthews came into bowl disciplined spells as they strangled the Bangladeshi line-up. The duo removed Fargana Hoque and Sharmin Akter while the likes of Karishma Ramharack and Zaida James came into the attack later on and ensured Bangladesh could only manage 118. In fact, Karishma ended up with career-best ODI figures of 4/12 from 6.5 overs.

In reply, the West Indian opening duo of Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph batted sensibly with the Bangladeshi new ball pairing of Marufa Akter and Fariha Trisna not giving away much. Marufa actually could have dismissed Hayley for a duck but Rabeya Khan dropped a tough chance at slip in the third over. The West Indies got to 38/0 after 10 overs but Hayley got out against the run of play off Nahida Akter’s bowling in the 12^th over. Then, Qiana stitched a decent partnership with Shemaine Campbelle to ensure that the West Indies didn’t lose wickets in succession.

The game was slipping away quickly when Nigar Sultana brought Marufa Akter back into the attack in the 21^st over. The seamer induced a chance off the fifth delivery which was not taken by Nigar herself before dismissing Qiana courtesy a return catch off the very next ball. Deandra Dottin came in at No.4 and provided some entertainment as she made a quick-fire 33* off 19 balls which included two towering sixes. Eventually, Dottin struck a boundary in the 28^th over to bring an early end to the proceedings.

Karishma Ramharack (Player of the Match & Player of the Series): "It is just about being consistent in the right areas. Just trying to do that better every time I go into the field.

Of course, we are really happy about it. The way we bowled and the way we batted in the end. I have been just working on consistency as it is ODI cricket.

I will want to thank my support system back home, coaches and the team."

Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh Women Captain): "Yeah, we started well in the powerplay but could not capitalize on that. Nobody took the responsibility and we kept losing wickets. On these sort of wickets we need runs on the board. It becomes difficult for the bowlers. We came back strong in the second game but we should have done well in the final game as well. Yeah, I know it is tough for the fans at home but we do have some positives from this series. Thank you."

Hayley Matthews (West Indies Captain): "(Feeling about winning the series) Pretty good. Coming into this series, wanted to be successful and great to get the series win. (About the bowling effort) They were great and so many people have put their hand up which is fantastic to see.

Winning the first game comfortably and then having a hiccup in the second game. The girls were hungry to come back strong.

(On Qiana Joseph) Qiana was fantastic at the top of the order. She hasn't had a lot of opportunity to play ODI cricket, hopefully she can carry onto fantastic things. We go into the Qualifiers as the top-ranked team. Hopefully, we get the job done."
