They beat Sydney Sixers Women comprehensively by six wickets and move to the fourth spot in the points table. The Sixers were completely outplayed today at the Junction Oval.
Chasing 131, the Renegades lost Nicole Faltum (1) and skipper Sophie Molineux (2) in the second over. Alice Capsey at three looked scratchy before falling on 10 while trying to up the ante. Davina Perrin scored 28 while opening the batting before departing in the 10th over.
Georgia Wareham was joined by Courtney Webb and both led the recovery work. They took the Power Surge in the 13th over and scored 31 runs in it, changing the whole complexion of the match. The Sixers failed to keep a check on the scoring rate and the game slipped away from them pretty quickly.
Wareham and Webb kept dealing in boundaries and took their side across the line in just 16.2 overs with six wickets in hand. Wareham and Webb remained unbeaten on 49 and 33 respectively as they put an end to this contest with an unbeaten stand of 85.
Earlier, the Sixers were asked to bat first and they lost Sophia Dunkley (9) and Alyssa Healy (0) early in the innings. Ellyse Perry looked solid at the top of the order but lacked support as skipper Ashleigh Gardner (16) and Amelia Kerr (2) fell cheaply.

Georgia Wareham (Player of the Match): "As a team, we talk about partnerships and giving ourselves a chance. It got easier. Once the ball stopped moving, it became easier to bat on. Webb was also awesome in the middle overs and got the job done.
We both realized about reacting because it was our best option. We took the momentum into the Surge and had a good Surge. We sort of had a conversation of taking one over before taking the Surge. Both were ready and just took it.
Our bowling coach keeps telling me to hit the stumps. There was a bit of extra bounce at Junction which we don’t normally see. All the bowlers were good and I was lucky to get those wickets.
We have had a couple of trips where we finished on the wrong side and had a quick turnaround. We backed our style the whole way. It was about execution. Everyone is different. I probably will just be checking scores and seeing where it goes.”
