2:02 PM IST, 4:32 PM Local Time: India win by just 2 runs (DLS method). The rain refuses to stop, and the match has been called off with India narrowly ahead on the DLS score.
Earlier, asked to bat first, India could only muster 86/4 in their allotted six overs. The innings began positively with Robin Uthappa (28 off 11) and Bharat Chipli (24 off 13) adding 42 runs for the opening wicket.
However, once Uthappa fell in the third over, Pakistan clawed their way back as Muhammad Shahzad struck twice in quick succession, removing Uthappa and Stuart Binny (4). Despite a few late blows from skipper Dinesh Karthik (17* off 6), India couldn’t build on the early momentum. Shahzad bagged a couple of wickets for Pakistan, while Abdul Samad celebrated a solitary wicket.
Pakistan came out firing in pursuit of 87, racing to 41/1 in just 3 overs before rain interrupted play. Khawaja Nafay (18* off 9) looked in sublime touch, striking cleanly and keeping the scoreboard ticking, while Abdul Samad (16* off 6) scored briskly at the other end.
Maaz Sadaqat (7 off 3) fell to Stuart Binny after hitting a six, but India stayed well ahead of DLS before the heavens opened up, eventually leading to a DLS finish in India’s favour.
