NOTS won by 6 wickets
1:53 AM IST and 9:23 PM Local Time: Nottinghamshire Outlaws have won their eighth consecutive game in the ongoing T20 Blast 2026. They started the campaign with a hat-trick of defeats but after that, they bounced back in some style and they continue to dominate the North group. Leicestershire Foxes are at the bottom half of the points table and this defeat can be attributed to their poor team selection. How? let's rewind to make it vivid.

Leicestershire Foxes won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a flying start as Stephen Eskinazi and Ben Green pounced on the Nottinghamshire pacers. Mohammad Amir, Olly Stone and Binura Fernando went for plenty and that's when the Outlaws skipper decided to bring spin. George Linde was introduced and he got the better of the Foxes' skipper Ben Green (21). But Sheridon Gumbs, the Foxes debutant started his innings with two consecutive boundaries. At the end of the 4th over, Foxes were 48/1.

Outlaws' bowlers pulled things back from there. Amir and Binura bowled the next two overs and conceded just 6 runs to concede 54 runs in totality in the powerplay. Liam Patterson-White joined the attack after the powerplay and he curtailed the run flow. Gumbs (11) became the victim of Binura and Linde came back to remove Rishi Patel and Ben Cox. Patterson-White got only one wicket but that was a big one of Ashton Turner. Patterson-White finished with 1/21 but his bowling partners got the wickets as he bowled a miserly spell.

Stephen Eskinazi anchored the innings when wickets were tumbling at the other end. He got some support from Ruan de Swardt (15). He carried the innings with Joey Evison and Josh Davey and completed his fifty in the final over of the innings. His unbeaten 52 off 41 helped the Foxes to get a respectable score of 143/7 on the board.

George Linde was the star of the show picking up 3 wickets for 31 runs.
Mohammad Amir and Binura Fernando understood the slow nature of the deck and used the cutter deliveries to control the death overs. Amir went wicketless but Binura took 2 for 28. Olly Stone also chipped in with a scalp.

Now the chase for the Outlaws was not smooth. Joe Clarke got a boundary in the first over but in the very next ball, he was dropped by Alex Green off Josh Davey. Clarke was the aggressor in his 36-run opening stand with George Munsey (8). Munsey found Gumbs off Josh Hull and Jack Haynes replaced him in the crease. Leicestershire bowled the entire powerplay with their pacers. Outlaws got to their team fifty in 5.2 overs, taking five balls more than the Foxes but they allowed no wobble in their way. Ashton Turner came in the 7th over and removed Clarke (31).

The error in the selection was not having another potent spinner alongside Ashton Turner. On a slow deck, one more tweaker was indispensable and Foxes did not have that. Alex Green got the better of McCann (2) but Haynes and Moores easily piled up the runs on the board. They batted 30 balls together to score 39 and most importantly, they knew whom to attack. In the 11th over, Joey Evison was introduced and Moores hit a hat-trick of boundaries against him to take 15 from that. Lack of spinners made the Foxes skipper to bowl one over with Rishi Patel. An off spinner against a left spinner was a good match-up but Rishi was hammered by Moores for a maximum and by Linde for a boundary. The 14th over went for 12 and momentum was with the Outlaws.

Despite losing Jack Haynes (29) in the 13th over, Moores' calculative approach prevailed and he took his team home. He found regular boundaries and dragged the equation to 1 from the final 2 overs. Moores got to his fifty by flicking Hull for a maximum and his 51 off 33 proved to be decisive in the game. He was well supported by George Linde who remained unbeaten on 18 off 15.

For the Foxes, Alex Green was the pick of the bowlers taking 2 wickets for 18 runs. Ashton Turner went run-a-ball in his four overs and removed Joe Clarke. Josh Hull conceded 23 runs taking a wicket.
Tom Moores (Notts Outlaws): (On his half-century) "It was in the back of mind, to be honest. But when they brought the fielders up like that. You never want to expose someone at the end, although we always back ourselves to win. Double sword. Hit the six and get a win.

(On being frustrated on the field) A little bit. I think one of the ball, I smashed my pad. I was a bit lazy there. It was the last ball of the over and I kind of changed my mind. I got lazy and not moving dynamically, hit it to backward point for a one. It was more of a frustrated with myself. I was locking it in my memory, so I don't do it again.

(On constructing the innings) I think the partnership between me and Jack was crucial. Just setting it up for George, who is in great form. I had couple of overs, where the accelerator went up and once I go up to that gear, it doesn't go down. A couple of days ago, it was Linde who took on Shadab and I was playing support. That is the liberty we have with this team, with Benny Howell coming in, there is a lot of power.

(On the 8 game winning run) It has been an amazing place. The club is a home. We are having our time to decipher things. I think it is not one particular things, it is about the younger players stepping up. The signings we made, someone like Mo Amir, Binura made his debut. They have been amazing for us. The overseas have stepped in and been fantastic for us. Top of everything, winning everything, everyone is happy, you are happy.

(On getting a home quarter final) You don't get anything for free and I think we do deserve a home quarter final. We have never been on a run like this ever, and I think we do really well here. So, hopefully, we do and if not, we go to Yorkshire and keep the run going."
Time for us to conclude our coverage from this match. Nottinghamshire continue their dominance in the North group as they have defeated Leicestershire Foxes. With 32 points from 11 games, they are sitting firmly at the helm of the points table.

For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Utsav Chandak and the scorer/analyst of this match Chandan Kumar Singh. Good night.
