Daniel Sams: "[You seemed to understand the pitch very quickly and stuck to your plan?] Yeah, I think we assessed it really quickly. The guys got us started really well. Craig, as usual, even when he goes for a couple of boundaries, just seems to get three wickets. Jake Ball's wicket to get Linny out was huge for us. We bounced off that momentum, assessed the pitch really well, and although it was a little tired with the used surface, we looked to take advantage of that.
[What sort of deliveries were you looking for? What sort of lengths and lines?] I think the key is to bowl through the top of the stumps, as usual here. For me in particular, with the pitch being a little tired, using my slower balls, which is a bit of a strength of mine, was important.
[How much are you enjoying it here at Somerset and building into the competition?] It's been awesome. Obviously, we didn't start well—we lost our first two games—but it's been great to get some wins back-to-back. The crowd here has been unbelievable, and we're really looking forward to Sunday night.
[Does it genuinely sink in? Are you able to savour nights like this?] Oh, 100%. Especially when I'm out on the road, just listening to the crowd, whether they're giving me a bit of stick for being Aussie or not. It's good fun, so I've really enjoyed it.
[On batters] Yeah, 100%. I think one of the best things about this group is our communication. As soon as we finished bowling, we had a conversation about what needed to be done. Smeed and Thomas Rew went out there and did exactly what they do. They got us off to a flyer and basically broke the back of the chase."
