10:55 PM IST and 6:25 PM Local Time: Yorkshire have ended their group stage campaign of the ongoing T20 Blast 2026 with a victory by 18 runs against the Nottinghamshire Outlaws. Outlaws, the table toppers of the North group suffer a defeat after nine games.
Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat first. Their batters were off to a solid start as both of their openers, William Luxton and Adam Lyth went hammer and tongs against the Outlaws bowlers in the powerplay. They got 83 runs in the first 6 overs and Adam Lyth was the aggressor as he scored 49 in this phase. But the Outlaws' bowlers pulled things back after that. Benny Howell was introduced to the attack and he broke the opening stand by removing Lyth (52). Liam Patterson-White bowled the 9th over and he got William Luxton for 38 off 23 balls. Joe Root did not get runs as he mistimed one off Benny Howell to depart for 2 off 4 balls. Yorkshire crawled past the team hundred in 10.3 overs.
Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali started the onslaught in the 13th over. In the 7-12 over phase, Yorkshire could score just 24 runs and lost 3 wickets. Bairstow and Moeen took 11 runs from the 13th over and they added 21 runs from the final over of Benny Howell to catapult the score to 139/3 after 14 overs. Liam Patterson-White came back and he dismissed Moeen Ali (20) and Matthew Revis and that brought the visitors back in the game. Bairstow was then joined by Logan van Beek but the former lost his wicket on 32. However, a fine fightback from van Beek helped the hosts to reach 193 in their 20 overs.
For the Outlaws, Liam Patterson-White was the star of the show picking up 3 wickets for 13 runs. Benny Howell (2/35) and George Linde (2/36) finished with almost identical figures. Olly Stone and Binura Fernando finished picking up one wicket each.
Nottinghamshire Outlaws got a few boundaries early in the start courtesy of their skipper Joe Clarke, Jack Haynes was also looking in good touch but they lost wickets rapidly at the other end. Clarke became the victim of Hasan Ali for 23. George Munsey went back for 9, Freddie McCann and Tom Moores got out for cheap scores and they were down to 56/4 in the 7th over.
They were in desperate need of a partnership and George Linde joined Jack Haynes in the crease. They added 49 runs for the 5th wicket and Joe Root changed the complexion of the game in the 12th over. Dom Bess took an excellent catch diving at cover to get rid of Linde (25) and he again snaffled another opportunity offered by Haynes (37) two balls later. That over from Root turned the things around.
Benny Howell and Dillon Pennington were at the crease when Nottinghamshire were staring down the barrel with 107/7 in the 13th over. They took the game deep and pounced on anything loose to add 57 runs from 32 balls. Andrew Tye removed Pennington who scored 37 off 20 and in the next over, a searing yorker from Hasan Ali rattled Olly Stone's leg stump. Benny Howell had to score 23 from the final over to win the contest. He hit a boundary in the second ball but mistimed one in the next ball to find Dom Bess at deep backward square leg. Howell departed scoring 30 off 20 and Outlaws were bundled out for 175, losing the game by 18 runs.
For Yorkshire, Andrew Tye picked up 3 wickets for 18 runs. Joe Root took two wickets in his second over and that was the game changing over. He ended with 2/35. Hasan Ali finished with 2/30. Logan van Beek, Jafer Chohan and Dominic Bess chipped in with a wicket each.
