7:43 PM IST, Local Time: A quickfire and unbeaten ton from young Ayush Mhatre has taken Mumbai to yet another win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025/26 as they defeat Andhra by 9 wickets!
The right handed aggressive batter hit 9 mammoth sixes and 5 fours in his unbeaten 104 facing 59 deliveries. Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav was at the other end when the winning runs were scored and added 31 in 21 deliveries hitting 1 four and 2 sixes in the unbeaten 105-run partnership for the second wicket.
Ajinkya Rahane started off the chase at the top order with Mhatre and hit 18 off 12 balls with a couple of sixes. The duo added 57 in 5.4 overs before Rahane picked up Ricky Bhui in the deep off Yarra Prithvi Raj's bowling.
Prithvi was the only successful bowler finishing his 4-over quota with 1/25. Left arm orthodox spinner Saurabh Kumar conceded 24 runs but this left arm duo couldn't find able support from other bowlers as the Andhra side crumbled under pressure.
Earlier in the game, Andhra were put to bat by Mumbai. Tushar Deshpande bowled a magnificent spell of 3/25, Shams Mulani (1/24) and Atharva Ankolekar (0/17) kept things tight in the spin attack.
It was an important 65-run sixth-wicket stand between skipper Ricky Bhui (48 off 40) and SDNV Prasad (44* off 32) which helped Andhra overhaul the 150-run mark which was expected to be a challenging total but not to be when someone like Ayush Mhatre is hitting the ball so cleanly.
