AUSW won by 9 wickets
5:30 PM IST and 1:00 PM LOCAL TIME- Australia Women have registered an emphatic win here at Leeds as they've clinched this contest by 9 wickets and 63 balls to spare. This has been an absolutely clinical effort from the Aussies after they restricted Bangladesh Women to just 77/8 from their 20 overs.

Australia got themselves off to a great start as Georgia Voll and Beth Mooney picked up a few boundaries early on. Both the batters mixed caution with aggression as the partnership reached 31. It was broken by Marufa Akter who picked up the wicket of Beth Mooney to give Bangladesh some joy.

Georgia Voll upped the ante after the dismissal of Mooney even as Perry looked to find her feet coming in at number 3. She was fortunate to be dropped at mid off and got another life. However the game was drifting away from Bangladesh really soon as the Aussies made a mockery of the chase reaching 49 in the powerplay.

Georgia Voll continued in her merry way as she finished off with 45 unbeaten from 32 balls. The right hander showcased why she is the number 1 ranked T20 international batter in Women's cricket at the moment. Ellyse Perry nudged it around and played herself in to score 19 unbeaten from 15 balls.

There wasn't much for the Bangladesh bowlers to defend. Marufa Akter was the only one to give a good account of herself. She picked up the sole wicket and should have had Ellyse Perry had the catch not been dropped. But it has been a disappointing show from the Bangladesh side. They will have to cover a lot of ground before they can come back and put on a good show in their next game.

Ellyse Perry (Player of the Match): "[How did she feel while bowling in these conditions?] Yeah, I thought we started really well at the top. Kim with those early wickets. It was a great all-around job from the group and happy to contribute.

[Does she ask Molineux for more spells?] I just take any opportunity to contribute for this group. We have a lot of fun on the field. It gives me interest in the training. Just try and develop. Happy to get this opportunity today and contribute.

[On her chat with Voll while batting] I thought Georgia was great with the bat today. We didn't communicate much today. Different conditions today from where we came from Old Trafford. Took time to adjust. Kept learning as we went ahead."
Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh Women Captain): "[On the conditions] Initially, we lost many wickets in the first 10 overs. It was difficult for our batting unit to go on from there. We are better than this. We wanted to post a good total on the board to give ourselves a chance with the ball.

[On their team selection] I think initially we really wanted to see two experienced bowlers. Nahida came into the side. We were hoping to keep runs on the board to give ourselves a chance. In T20 format, you have to score runs. 70-80 runs is always difficult for the bowlers.

[How are the things back home and how difficult is it for them to find power hitters?] Sometimes, we have been searching for some players who bat like the power-hitters that we can use in the last few overs. In Asian conditions, we find a lot of spinners. But we don't find such batters. We have some players who can bat like this. Sometimes, it's not working for us."
Sophie Molineux (Australia Women Captain): "Yeah, it was sort of what we were expecting. Kimmy up front was beautiful. She got her shape and bowled beautifully. And then I think everyone who came on after that did their role. So it was, all in all, a good day.

(On Ellyse Perry) Look, it was probably a fraction fuller. The pitch was probably a little bit sticky at the start. Yeah, she’s warmed up every single game since 2023 as well. So she’s always chipping away at her game. And I think conditions like this really suit her. She’s always been able to shape the ball and can get a little bit out of the wicket as well. So those conditions really suit her. And I think we’re just blessed that we’ve got options no matter what conditions or opponent we’re playing against.

(On Georgia Voll) Yeah, that was great to see from Voll. Going out there and being able to play the way she did. She took the ball at the start and expanded. We all know how clean a striker she is, and it was great to see some of that today.

(On the campaign) Yeah, I think so. It’s one game at a time. It’s a bit of a cliche, but we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves. At the same time, we have to be able to enjoy wins like this. So yeah, all in all, it’s been a great start."
Right so, Australia continue to remain at the top of the table and they've given their net run rate a massive boost after today's win against Bangladesh. The Aussies are dominating in the competition and have outplayed both their opponents so far. They will be looking to continue their winning run while Bangladesh have a lot to ponder on after a crushing defeat like this.
That will be all from our side as we bring down the curtains on our coverage of this Women's T20 World Cup game between Australia and Bangladesh. For now, it's Soumarya Dutta signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. See you soon!
