Ashleigh Gardner (Player of the Match): "[A quick turnaround after the last game?] I feel like the momentum always helps. India was always going to be the toughest opposition. The wicket was good. We were in London. Just a short travel. Great to get the win.

[On her bowling in this tournament] I haven't had an impact with the ball in the tournament. To save the best for the last was pleasing. I tried to keep the stumps in play as much as possible. To get those wickets was good.

[What were their plans while bowling today?] We knew this wicket was a good one. It was inconsistent at times with the bounce. So, it was important to keep the stumps in play. We knew this team has players who like to hit boundaries. So the dots and the ones are wins. It was about making sure that their key batters aren't hitting.

[On her turnaround in her form with the bat] I would love to have an answer. But I don't have one at the moment. Confidence is a big for me with the bat in hand. I have thrown away my innings way too early. It's about using the first six balls and then hitting the sweepers harder after that and running hard between the wickets."

Hayley Matthews (West Indies Women Captain): "[Was it a bad day or did the last two losses affect their performance today?] Maybe a bit of both. We didn't have best game or didn't play to our potential for the entire tournament. Our great game could have been far better than that. We couldn't put an entire game throughout the tournament.

[On Dottin being taken off the field] I think it was a bit scary for some of us. She's a massive player for us. To see her pass that like that after the anthem, it was scary. Just a medical emergency. Nice to see her get back and throw a bit of punches which shows a lot about her character.

[On their batting effort] I wanted to get off to a good start. Australia put us under the pressure in the first six overs. We weren't sure whether she (Dottin) is going to bat. So, we wanted to take it deep. It was hard for me to assess. We wanted to get the run rate up.

[What will be chat among the group after this campaign?] As a group, we can still hold our heads high. Aaliyah Alleyne, Stafanie Taylor were good. Even Chinnele Henry after getting out of the injury. When you speak of the West Indies team, you take only a few names. We didn't have any super stand-up performances from anyone. Everyone had to chip in. To get to this stage, it was good. We have players who play different roles and we will only get better."
Sophie Molineux (Australia Women Captain): (What has she learned in the last couple of weeks?) Umm, you just have to ride it in T20 World Cups. It's full of momentum, swings. I have really enjoyed it. The group has really enjoyed it. That's probably the biggest thing for us. We have helped and stopped ourselves from thinking too far ahead and now we can think about the final which is pretty cool.

(Did they change their plans after noticing what happened to Dottin before the start of play?) I actually had no idea. Yeah, I didn't know until maybe 5 or 6 overs. She wasn't supposed to come. Then she did and she made an impact in the game. So, yeah.

(Decision to bowl the seamers for a little bit longer in the powerplay) Kimmy (Kim Garth) shapes the ball beautifully both ways and bowls beautifully in the powerplay. Lucy did a really good job as well. I just thought it was the best matchup to those two (Matthews & Joseph). I thought we bowled really well. Hayley and Joseph tried to go hard at us but we managed to hold our nerve which was pretty cool.

(Any change in plans before the run chase?) No. We just wanted to get it done as quick as possible. Moons and Ash were clinical. Volly played a good hand to get us away and just calmed our nerves in the change room. It was really good to see.

(On Ellyse Perry being retired hurt) Yeah, bit of that again (precaution). It was just quad awareness. Sounds like she will be more than okay to go on Sunday.

(What are the plans for the 5-day break ahead of the Final?) Sleep (laughs). I am looking forward to a good night of sleep tonight. We will make sure that we celebrate what's been a pretty cool two weeks for the girls. We will make sure we do that. We will rest and recover in the next little bit and then build up without thinking too much. We will play the game over and over in our heads. We will make most of the week and ensure we enjoy every part of it."
That's the end of a one-sided semi-final here at The Oval, with Australia proving far too strong for West Indies on the day. With this commanding victory, Australia secure their place in the Women's T20 World Cup Final for the eighth time in the tournament's history.

They will now await their opponents, with the second semi-final set to take place on Thursday. Hosts England will lock horns with South Africa here at the Kennington Oval for a place in the Grand Finale, where the winner will earn the right to take on Australia in the title clash.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide who, along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya & statistician Aman brought all the updates of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπŸ‘‹
