4:27 PM IST and 4:57 PM Local | The Irish women have humbled Bangladesh at home for the second time in two games. After posting 134/5 on the board, the Irish bowlers defended the score like a dream to get home by 47 runs.
Orla Prendergast started off brilliantly with the ball, taking wickets of both the openers - Dilara Akter and Sobhana Mostary - in her first two overs. Arlene Kelly complimented Alana Dalzell each after that by snapping two more wickets to leave Bangladesh crawling at 22/4 inside the powerplay.
Sharmin Akhter and Shorna Akter then tried reviving the Bangladesh innings with a cautious stand. They added 48 runs for the fifth wicket, but those runs came in 42 balls, which ended up bitting them up.
As soon as Shorna Akter got dismantled, the Bangladesh batters started to fall like a pack of cards. They ended up losing six of their batters inside 17 runs as the Irish bowlers bossed them over in Sylhet.
Earlier in the day, Laura Delany (35), Prendergast (32), and Amy Hunter (23) batted brilliantly to help Ireland get to a respectable score.
