Back of length ball outside the off stump. Pania goes for a big heave over leg side but ends up top edging it but the point fielder misses the catch to give two runs away. It's a huge overstep by the bowler and it's a no-ball.

Four to seal the match for Baroda by Bhanu Pania and Baroda have qualified for the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24 and will face Punjab in the ultimate contest day after tomorrow. Full length ball angling at the off stump. Pania settles himself deep inside the crease and lofts it over the bowler's head to beat the long-on fielder. Entire dug-out is happy, skipper Krunal Pandya is happy. With that, Assam's memorable journey in this T-20 tournament comes to an end.
BRD won by 6 wickets
07.53 PM IST and Local Time: That's it..... Baroda's comprehensive performance, excelling in both batting and bowling, has paved their way to a remarkable 6-wicket victory over Assam. With this victory, they have secured a coveted spot in the finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy!

Earlier, Baroda have won the toss and have opted to field first. Assam's innings got off to a cautious start with Denish Das and Rishav Das, but Denish later accelerated, scoring 32 from just 20 deliveries before falling to Atit Sheth.

Unfortunately, star performer Sumit Ghadigaonkar managed only 5 runs, and captain Riyan Parag could muster just 8. Apart from Rishav Das, the rest of the Assam batting lineup struggled, with Bishal Roy's crucial 21 being one of the few bright spots. Rishav Das emerged as the top scorer with 48 runs, and Assam posted a total of 143.

Baroda's bowlers excelled, with Abhimanyu Singh taking 4 wickets while conceding 29 runs, Atit Sheth grabbed a couple of crucial wickets, and Soyeb Sopariya and Lukman Meriwala chipped in with a wicket each.

Baroda's chase of 144 runs got off to an excellent start with openers Jyotsnil Singh and Ninad Rathva forming a formidable partnership, posting 81 runs in just 7.5 overs for the first wicket. Rathva played a fluent innings but was unfortunate to depart at 44 runs off 26 balls, featuring 6 fours and a six. Skipper Krunal Pandya contributed 8 runs, while Jyotsnil Singh departed after scoring 37 runs in 29 balls.

Vishnu Solanki and Shivalik Sharma continued the chase, adding 26 runs for the fourth wicket before Sharma was dismissed, contributing 13 runs. Solanki remained unbeaten at 17 runs off 17 balls, and Bhanu Pania scored an unbeaten 13 runs to help Baroda comfortably cross the victory line with 3.5 overs to spare, finishing at 146/4 in 16.1 overs.

From Assam's bowling perspective, it wasn't a good day as they struggled both in batting and bowling. Akash Ashish Sengupta managed to take a couple of wickets, while Pallavkumar Das and Mukhtar Hussain each picked a wicket.

Stick around for the post-match presentation…

Riyan Parag(Assam Captain)- "100%, I am proud of the boys. The are all young and 20-21 years of age mostly. We played, we learnt and I think we have a lot of things to learn. I think for my team, batting at number 4 has been good for me and my team needed me to do so and for other teams, I have to play as per the situation and go with the flow. It took me four years to learn to cut the outside noise off and I think I can do it better now."
Abhimanyu Singh (Player of the Match): "The third wicket, on that wicket I deceived the batter that was good. Feeling good, we were started in Jaipur and the pitches were different there. Here we have to use pace variations and swing. Thanks"
Krunal Pandya(Baroda Captain)- "Yes I am really excited now. Boys have worked hard for the last 3-4 months and I am proud of the way that our boys played. We were in a pressure situation in different games and we did better to make a comeback. I think we need to team up for the final. We batted well, we bowled well and we constantly did better in the matches as the tournament progressed."
That's it from this SMAT Semifinal game. We will be back with the final on Monday (November 6th). Stay tuned to our network for all other cricketing actions across the globe and across formats.
