Birmingham Phoenix will be geared up to collide against the Trent Rockets at Edgbaston, Birmingham in the seventh match of the 2023 Men's Hundred. 

The defending champions- the Rockets' did get a flying start to this year's edition after winning in the first game. They ended up winning a close battle against the Southern Brave, winning by a thin margin of six runs. 

The top order was a failure and Sam Hain revived them with a brilliant half-century. It was followed up by some collective effort from the bowlers where Daniel Sams and Lewis Gregory shared three wickets each, followed by two wickets from Imad Wasim.

On the flip side, the Phoenix was led by stand-in skipper Benny Howell in the absence of Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone. Although the outcome was nothing but a stalemate, Ben Duckett was someone who looked solid during his unbridled innings of 34. Barring the Southpaw, all the other batters who got the chance to bat failed to put up strong numbers.

Pitch Report: Historical data from Edgbaston reveals an interesting pattern, with all six T20Is played at the venue being won by the teams batting first. Also, the pitch remains slightly two-paced and deteriorates as the game progresses. Pacers are expected to benefit from the new ball, while spinners are likely to play a key role in the second innings. Considering the track record, the toss-winning team may opt to bat first, aiming to set a challenging target.

According to the ECB, the latest start time to have a 25-ball encounter is 8:16 PM Local time (12:46 AM IST).

10:32 PM IST, 6:02 PM Local Time: The match officials are strolling out to the middle for the inspection now. The pitch and square area are still under covers at the moment. The super sopper is moving around. There are still a few visible damp patches and groundsmen are working hard to get the condition ready. Oh, the match officials have opened their umbrellas and it looks like it has started to drizzle again. 

10:48 PM IST, 6:18 PM Local Time: The match officials are out there in the middle with coaches of both teams Andy Flower and Dan Vettori. They are shaking hands now and the match has been abandoned without a ball being bowled. Both sides will share a point apiece.
