7:19 AM IST, 6:49 PM Local Time: A completely one-sided game. Montreal Royal Tigers defeat Brampton Blitz by 43 runs. With this win, Montreal have qualified for the semi-finals of Canada Super 60 2025. They must be very proud of themselves as they have beaten the table-toppers Brampton quite comprehensively.
Electing to field first, Brampton bowlers couldn't get early breakthroughs and were smashed all over the park, especially by Dilpreet Bajwa, who made 57 from 18. Interestingly, Bajwa had to leave the field midway due to injury and then he returned back at the end of the innings to provide some late fire works to his team. Montreal smashed a good score of 130 runs in their 10 overs. Leggie Chris Greaves was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3/24.
In reply, Montreal never looked settled in their chase. They lost wickets at regular intervals. The side could muster only 87/6 in their 10 overs. They would have got themselves restricted to something around 65-70 but some solid late hitting from Roelof van der Merwe (21*) helped them get to this 80-odd score. Every Montreal bowler was among the wickets. However, it was Brad Currie and Andrew Tye who were the standout performers with the ball. The new ball duo gave a combined total of just 12 runs in their four overs together.
Both the teams have now qualified for the semi-finals and their opponents will be decided on the basis of the results of the remaining two games of the day.
