9:50 AM IST and 9:20 PM Local Time: Phew!!! What a dominant show by the Brampton Blitz. They just never allowed the White Rock Warriors to get in the game! Rishiv Joshi set the tone up front by dismissing Shikhar Dhawan for a duck whose miserable runs continues.
Chris Lynn teed off, in fact hit the first ball of the match for six. However, once he was dismissed for 25 off 10 balls, there was a major collapse. From 29/1 the Warriors stumbled to 37/5 and just played catch up from there on!
David Malan, Joe Clarke and the hero from yesterday Aaron Jones couldn't add anything substantial. 100 was looking a farfetched thought at one point.
However, a blazing innings from Jordan Thompson brought some respect back into the total and his 58 off 20 got the Warriors to 115/7. It looked well below par and proved to be eventually.
From the Blitz side all the bowlers chipped in. The new ball bowlers Joshi and Richard Gleeson were brilliant, each giving just 17 in their 2 over spells and picking up crucial wickets!
Will Smeed and Martin Guptill made a mockery of chase as they just smashed and slammed their way towards the target. Unfortunately for the bowling side with the target so less, even one six in the over was enough for the batters to stay with the run rate.
Guptill scored a very impressive 35 off 18. However, the real star of the show was Will Smeed who just didn't show any mercy. Smashed a 17 ball 50 before ending not out on 71 off just 26 deliveries. He killed any hopes that the Warriors would have had.
The Warriors did get a couple of back-to-back wickets in the end, but it was too little too late and Smeed's knock had wounded them deeply! They will look to bounce back tomorrow! Blitz pretty much is guaranteed a semifinals spot with now two back-to-back wins!
