2:28 PM IST, Local Time: We have some bad news for the cricketing fans. The rain started pouring just after the toss had concluded. The ground is currently covered with the sheets. Let's hope that the live action starts soon.
3:18 PM IST, Local Time: The toss has been done but unfortunately, the pitch is still covered due to the wet outfield. Everybody is still waiting for the ground to dry and for the live action to kickstart.
4:33 PM IST, Local Time: Good news for the fans. The rain has stopped and covers have been removed. The water has mostly disappeared from the ground but there are patches in the outfield that are still wet. Umpires are inspecting the outfield.
Pitch Report (By Paul Valthaty): "On Day 1, the batters certainly enjoyed themselves, particularly during the powerplay, where scoring came quite freely. Once the ball got older, however, the bowlers managed to fight back and make some inroads for their teams.

If we take a closer look at today's surface, the good-length area appears rock hard. There doesn't seem to be much assistance on offer for the bowlers, and that is likely to remain the case today as well.

For the batters, if they can adjust to the extra bounce and the slight variation in pace off the surface, there are plenty of runs available. It looks like another excellent batting wicket. The fast bowlers will need to be brave and disciplined with their lengths.

Yesterday, many deliveries were either too short or overpitched. Hitting that good-length area consistently will be crucial. For the spinners, extracting bounce could be an important part of their plans. Using the surface intelligently may help them create opportunities.

Overall, it looks like another day when you'd much rather be a batter than a bowler. As far as the captains are concerned, I would once again look to win the toss and field first. That could prove to be the more prudent option."
4:52 PM IST, Local Time: Umpires are going to inspect the outfield again at 5 PM IST. There are some damp patches and the ground staff is working hard to dry them out.
5:01 PM IST, Local Time: It is getting more cloudy here and the covers are coming back. Bad news for the fans. The match has been called off due to rain. Both captains are shaking hands with each other after having a brief discussion with the umpires. It seems that parts of the outfield are still wet and can cause injury to the players. Sad for the fans as the rain had the last say.
That's it from our live coverage of the 3rd fixture of the Maharaja T20 Trophy. Unfortunately, rain had the final say and the match had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.

This is Mohammad Anab signing off on behalf of my scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Stay tuned to Crickxo for the live coverage of the evening game of the Maharaja T20 Trophy. Goodbye.
