Pitch Report (By Paul Valthaty): "On Day 1, the batters certainly enjoyed themselves, particularly during the powerplay, where scoring came quite freely. Once the ball got older, however, the bowlers managed to fight back and make some inroads for their teams.
If we take a closer look at today's surface, the good-length area appears rock hard. There doesn't seem to be much assistance on offer for the bowlers, and that is likely to remain the case today as well.
For the batters, if they can adjust to the extra bounce and the slight variation in pace off the surface, there are plenty of runs available. It looks like another excellent batting wicket. The fast bowlers will need to be brave and disciplined with their lengths.
Yesterday, many deliveries were either too short or overpitched. Hitting that good-length area consistently will be crucial. For the spinners, extracting bounce could be an important part of their plans. Using the surface intelligently may help them create opportunities.
Overall, it looks like another day when you'd much rather be a batter than a bowler. As far as the captains are concerned, I would once again look to win the toss and field first. That could prove to be the more prudent option."
