22:49 IST and Local Time: Dambulla Sixers win by 28 runs and Colombo Strikers are bowled out for just 95. Sixers win this one but still fail to qualify due to their poor NRR. Colombo, on the other hand, had a opportunity to finish in the top 2 but will now finish 3rd on the points table. This is also the lowest total successfully defended against the Colombo Strikers in the LPL history. So, here is how the game panned out.Put to bat first, Dambulla Sixers posted a below par total of just 123 in their 20 overs. Their top and middle order failed to get going again. Skipper Mohammad Nabi and Chamindu Wickramasinghe were the top scorers and scored 40 and 26 runs respectively.
With the ball, the Strikers were again spot on with the new ball and picked up early wickets. They were impressive in the middle overs as well and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Binura Fernando and Matheesha Pathirana were the pick of the bowlers and picked up 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Coming to the chase, the Dambulla bowlers were brilliant with the new ball and dismissed both the openers for a duck. Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Nuwan Pradeep were outstanding at the top and picked up 2 and 3 wickets respectively. Skipper Mohammad Nabi also bowled well and picked up a wicket to his name.
With the bat, it was a pretty ordinary batting display by the Colombo batters. None of their batters could get going today. Thisara Perera was the lone warrior in the end and played a fighting knock of 30 runs. So, that also brings curtains to the league stage for LPL 2024.
