10:36 PM IST and Local Time | Australia Masters have finished the group stage with a victory by 7 wickets and England Masters are going back without any victory in their bag. Australia Masters will play India Masters tomorrow in the semi-final.
Today Eoin Morgan decided to bat first and that surprised many. But he proved his decision worthy. He came to bat and took the strike to start the onslaught. Phil Mustard struggled at one end but Morgan kept the scoreboard ticking with boundaries. He registered his first fifty of the tournament and scored 64 off 32 balls with 5 fours and an equal number of maximums. His effort was well replicated by Tim Ambrose who continued his good form by scoring a fine 69 off 44 balls. His unbeaten innings consisted of 7 fours and 2 maximums. Darren Maddy and Tim Bresnan played two cameos to take the team score to 209 for 3.
For Australia Masters, Steve O'Keefe, Bryce McGain and James Pattinson took one wicket each.
Coming to chase the target, Australia got off to a flyer start as Shaun Marsh and Daniel Christian found a few boundaries in the powerplay. Marsh got out for just 20 and Christian started smashing the bowlers for fun. He added 61 runs beside his name off just 28 balls with 7 fours and 4 maximums. Nathan Reardon got a promotion up in the order and he also played his shots to score 83 off 39 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes.
Tim Bresnan was the only one shining for England with the ball. Bresnan bowled the penultimate over and he took three wickets and conceded just 5 runs. But the Australia Masters were brilliant with the bat earlier and Bresnan's efforts fell short. He finished with 5/45 from his 4 overs. Monty Panesar and Boyd Rankin took one wicket each.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentations.
