England have now won four consecutive T20Is in Manchester. Their last defeat at the venue came against Pakistan in 2020.
Player of the Match: Jacob Bethell
Jacob Bethell (POTM): "[Thought process during his match-winning knock] Yeah, I think. It worked out well in the end. But, just going into bat, two down. Brooky set the tone really well. He flipped the moment on them. And that made it easier for me to go out there and give him the strike initially. Shame when he got out but Bantz came in. That partnership we built, both of us would  have liked to go out and finish it. Those kind of chases, you're not going rapid the whole time, but just a couple of big overs and then the game swings.

[On the 17th over by Ravi Bishnoi] If I'm honest I probably would've targetted the other side with the wind and the shorter side. But a couple of free hits, and the bowler is down and then you try to take him. Jof came in and finished it off.

[On not over trying to hit the short boundaries] The thing with playing on different dimensions is one side might be easier to hit sixes, but you can also score runs hitting it into the bigger gaps. We were good with that as a team.

[On taking inspiration from T20 World Cup semi-final knock] I really enjoyed that semifinal although we didn't get over the line. You want to do well against the best teams in the world."
Shreyas Iyer (India captain): (Where did it go out of their hands?) We all know where it went away. But I do not want to pin point any particular player. We were cruising for the first 15 overs. But then, it slipped away.

(On Ravi Bishnoi's no-balls) I think (after the first) one, I was okay, he is going to come back strong. But again in the 17th over, back to back... He has to learn.

(What did he think of the score in the innings break?) I thought it was a phenomenal score with bounce that this pitch had to offer. I thought Tilak's 20 (24* off 11) was pretty crucial. Then, as I said, we were on top for 15 overs (in the second innings). Credit to Bethell. He paced his innings very well and then, cashed on the lose balls.

(On Sam Curran's bowling) I think he analysed the dimension of the ground pretty early. Not gave room. For a lot of us, our strength is to use the ball and play on the off side. He did not give us much room at all.

(On Vaibhav Sooryavanshi) He has that unflinching attitude. He is fearless. The way he bats in the nets, there is something to learn from him. I did not expect him to be nervous. The way he stepped up today, on debut, was pleasing.

(Three loses on a trot now. Can India bounce back?) Absolutely. I am always in high spirits. I feel this is the lowest you can go. The only way is up."
Harry Brook (England Captain): "[Pleased with that performance?] Extremely pleased. I thought the lads toiled around in the field. Outstanding, it's one of the things we spoke about: try to get off the ropes and stop the twos, we had 11 twos, they had 5. We are pretty happy with that.

[Thoughts on the target] We knew we could chase this. With the wind and dimensions of the ground, we knew we could chase it. Idea was to get off to a good start in the powerplay but that didn't happen in the first few overs. We were happy where we were after the powerplay. The way Bethell played was phenomenal.

[On Sam Curran's spell] Yeah, and it was again just about using the dimensions and wind as well as we could. That little spell we had with him and Jacksy, I can't remember what over it was, but I think they went for about 10 or 12 runs. And that was vital in the context of the game.

[On his knock] I think you've got to try and maximize the powerplay as well as you can, really. And all our batters have so much strength and power, but innovation as well, and we can hit different parts of the ground. And I thought we used that really well.

[On Jacob Bethell] Yeah, he's awesome to have out there. He rallies the troops really well when we're out in the field, and gives me a massive hand out there as well. And he's so mature for his age, and he's got a very long career ahead of him."

TRIVIA: Shreyas Iyer is the only Indian captain to remain winless after his first four matches in charge.
Many tuned into this game in the anticipation of watching some fireworks from a young Bihar-born left-hander. Instead, it was a young Barbados-born left-hander who stole the headlines.

Bethell was brilliant. Sooryavanshi showed a glimpse of his talent. Bishnoi had a nightmare. And thus, Shreyas Iyer's wait for his first victory as the captain of India continues. The Men in Blue are yet to clinch a win post their T20 World Cup triumph.

Will the wait end at Trent Bridge, Nottingham? That is where the 3rd match of this series will be played on Tuesday, July 7. Or will England come out on top again? We will find out together.

For now, it is time for us to say goodbye. We hope you enjoyed our coverage for this game. This is Darpan Tikiya signing off on the behalf of Ajay Pal Singh, AkshayaKrishna Polya, Aman and Manish Bishnoi. Feel free to scroll below and read through the detailed summary of the match. Sayonara!
