Gus Atkinson (Player of the Match): "I think a bit of both. Obviously, to get on both honours board is incredible and it will take some time to sink in.
Root has been incredible this week. To bat with him was great and to get twin hundreds here was incredible.
My first red-ball game at Lord’s and it has gone well. I think the slope is helping me and I’m enjoying bowling here.
The way we go about with the game. We like to attack. As a bowler, it’s great to attack and not worry about the runs. Looking forward to more Tests with this group."

Dhananjaya de Silva (Sri Lanka Captain): "Well, two days to bat, the message was to bat simple and bat long. They always put the pressure back on us. But we have controlled it little bit. But that’s not good enough to win a Test match in England.
(Whether he could have batted first on winning the toss?) I could have batted first. But the top order was struggling a little bit. I had to give them a chance to see how the pitch behaves but it didn’t work out. I have to speak with the coach and the management before the next Test.
(On Kamindu Mendis) Kamindu is getting the runs very quickly. That’s a positive sign for a batter batting at number seven.
As I said earlier, we have to do better to get a win in England and get a win against this England team. We have to do better in all three departments.

Gus is a standout. He is a guy that is going to be spoken about a lot. Also, Matt Potts and Stone. Those 30-40 runs can take you into good positions and those runs were very crucial.
(On not enforcing the follow-on) It just made sense that the pitch was gradually getting worse. It was important to give the bowlers some time off the field and then have 10 wickets to pick rather than 20 on the trot.
We gave the spinners a crack. We could have tried something different but we knew the new ball was crucial. That was the reason we walked off. Absolutely. It’s always a special Test and there are a few more Surrey boys who will be looking forward to the next Test.”
