England go 1-0 up in the three-match series. Jos Buttler set it up with the bat, scoring 96 runs before Liam Dawson's 4/20 closed the game out for the hosts.
Earlier in the game, England won the toss and opted to bat first. They lost Ben Duckett early in the piece but Jamie Smith went hammer and tongs en route to his knock of 38 off 20.
Harry Brook and Tom Banton too failed with the bat but Jos Buttler went about his business and scored a half-century.
Buttler missed out on a well-deserved century by just four runs. A run-a-ball 23 from Jacob Bethell and 9 off 6 from Will Jacks took England to 188/6 in 20 overs.
Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. He finished with figures of 2/33. Alzarri Joseph picked up one wicket but was expensive, giving away 51 runs from his four overs. Andre Russell and Roston Chase also bagged one apiece.
In reply, Johnson Charles and Evin Lewis got the visitors off to a decent start. Charles perished for 18.
Shai Hope’s torrid time with the bat continued as he fell for another single-digit score. Roston Chase made 24 off 20.
Lewis was looking set for a big one but Jacob Bethell dismissed him for 39. Sherfane Rutherford got just two runs before losing his wicket. Rovman Powell and Andre Russell both got starts but failed to convert them into anything substantial.
Gudakesh Motie's promotion in the batting order didn't yield the results that the West Indies wanted. Jason Holder remained unbeaten on 16 and Romario Shepherd was dismissed on the last ball of the match as the Windies fell short by 21 runs.

Liam Dawson (POTM): "Really good feeling to return to the T20I side. Good to win this one. Pleased to contribute to the win.
Tried to keep it simple. Bowled defensively and made sure that they came at him. When you have 190 on the board, you can bowl defensively. Thankfully, it worked for me.
It has been more than three and a half years since I played a T20I for England. I was a little bit nervous but happy to contribute. They have got extreme power, so I tried to keep it away from their arc. They have a really good players."

Shai Hope (West Indies Captain): "I can't really pin point at one or the other. Both stages were important for us. We didn't bowl as well as we could have in the first 10 overs but I have to give to the bowlers for the fight they showed and pull things back to give us a chance to chase 185 odd.
Every ground is different. You have to adapt to the conditions where you are playing. We discussed the wind factors and dimensions. Those are the plans we have had I thought the guys executed those well and gave us a chance to chase it down.
A lot of teams like to throw spinners at us. We know that and we just have to get better at it. As a batting unit, we got so much depth, so destructive. It is just one day break, we have to pick ourselves up and have to put this one behind us. We have two more games to win to win the series, we have to look forward."

To have both (Rashid and Dawson) with a wealth of experience, as a batter, you don't know which end to go after. To have them two in the team really helps, and on a big field, it's only going to go your way. It's hard to hit boundaries in the middle-order; you have to take twos or threes, as we had to do in the first innings.
We had a bit of a tricky period with the bat in the middle phase. If we can get a few more boundaries in the middle, that would be great; that's one learning, and also running hard between the wickets. We also need to bowl yorkers in the death overs. We haven't nailed it tonight. We need to improve on all these things, which would be great."

After sweeping the ODI series, the hosts have now started the T20Is in style with a commanding 21-run win over the West Indies.
