The Guyana Amazon Warriors Women remain winless against the Barbados Royals Women in the Women’s CPL, faltering once again at the death. They choked under pressure in the closing overs and went down by just 3 runs.
Earlier in the day, Guyana Amazon Warriors Women won the toss and chose to bowl first under the scorching Guyana sun. Qiana Joseph showed early intent with a couple of crisp boundaries but fell cheaply in the 3rd over to Fraser. The experienced Sri Lankan, Chamari Athapaththu, took charge with some delightful stroke play, doing the bulk of the scoring in the Powerplay. Georgia Redmayne, meanwhile, managed a run-a-ball 10 before a lapse in concentration saw her stumped while casually wandering out of her crease.
Guyana clawed their way back strongly in the middle overs, striking at regular intervals to put the brakes on the Royals. The big wicket came when Chamari Athapaththu departed for 37 off 42, halting the early momentum. Skipper Chinelle Henry then took charge, playing a fiery unbeaten knock of 46 from 34 balls to push her side past the 130-run mark. I worked hard in Sri Lanka because the World Cup is coming up. I played my natural game. Keep it simple and attack the stumps. She has been doing very well as a captain. We executed our plans and helped her. She is one of the good captains in world cricket and I hope she continues this performance in the final too."

She is a specialist in that, done it for the West Indies and she succeeded here. Best outing for the team. We ended up scoring 132. If we could reduce the dot balls, we could score more and provide a bigger margin of error for the bowlers."
A nail-biting finish in Guyana as Barbados Royals Women kept their cool to defend the total and clinch a 3-run victory. With this, the Royals extend their unbeaten streak this season, holding on to a perfect 100% win record. The head-to-head now reads 8-0 in favour of the Royals over the Warriors.
