Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Yeah, was a good effort in the second innings with the bat. We didn't batted well in the first innings. So, we knew what lies ahead of us. A couple of guys stood up and it was great to watch it. When we were 350 runs behind, you can't think too much about it. Just bat according to the ball and see where the game goes. A couple of partnerships put us back in the game. With 350 behind, we could have easily got out before getting to it. It was a great effort. (On Sarfaraz and Pant) Those two are batting heroes. Everyone is on the edge of the seat when they are batting. That's what has given them success. Rishabh takes some risks but it works for him. It was a matured innings. Not to forget Sarfaraz, he is playing his fourth Test match and showed great maturity. When you are clear in your mind, you are in a good seat. I said it in the press conference as well, it was going to be a challenge in overcast conditions. But I didn't expect us to get bowled out below 50. But you have to give credit where it's due. New Zealand bowled well and challenged every corner of the bat and we failed to counter it. Games like these can happen. We have to understand what well we did in this game and go forward. There are guys who have been in this situation before. We were 1-0 behind against England and bounced back to win the series 4-1. Everyone knows what to do in these situations and we will be looking forward to this next game."

Tom Latham (New Zealand Captain): "Ah, I think we were also thinking to bat first but it was a good toss to lose. For the boys to come out with the ball, put it on the right areas and bowled them out on a low score. We batted really well, we also knew India will come out hard on us but we bowled really well with the second new ball and did the job for us. (On 46 all out) Well I never thought about it to be honest, our bowlers bowled really well, the conditions helped us to but credit goes to the boys. Also with the way Rachin and Southee batted with the bat for us building up that partnership was just outstanding. (On William O'Rourke) Yeah, he has been fantastic for us. Like he has been for us in the recent past, makes us really uncomfortable in the nets, with the extra bounce and pace. He has a veteran Tim Southee alongside him as well was brilliant to see. (On Rachin Ravindra) I think he was just outstanding with the bat. He set the tone for us beautifully, we know the capability he has and we are certainly happy that he is on our side. He has just been sensational in the last 12 months and he just showed his class out there."

Rachin Ravindra (Player of the Match): "Yeah, it's a nice city, nice wicket to bat on so I enjoyed my time. I guess its a combination of both, I guess I back myself to bat positively. I have prepared myself for these turning pitches and when you have 6 test matches in a row in sub-continent wickets, you always have to be prepared. In Chennai, I wanted to have a look at how to play on red soil and black soil pitches. Over there, the surface was different but really happy with the effort the guys put on out there for me. Yeah, I just try to be in good positions to keep scoring runs to be honest. I don't try to keep scoring boundaries always, try to rotate strike and then pace my Innings. Yeah, it's really nice to have my family out here. They love watching me play on TV and it was a really nice support out here. I enjoyed my time coming out here and play."
